Jesy's POV
Today the girls go back to school after the summer break, I am worried about the girls going in okay, I don't want them to panic and cry. I can't do what I did last year with them getting back to school. I do feel better now that I sent letters to the teachers so at least they know about the girls history and own little 'triggers' and personalities.
I woke up early this morning to get the uniform out and make packed lunches and breakfast. It is now nearing 7.30am, and possibly the only day of the whole summer break when the girls have had a lie-in!
Me: "Time to wake up, girlies,"
Olivia: "I don't wanna," she whined rolling back over.
Me: "Nope! Come on, breakfast, get dressed and time for school!" I said shaking both girls awake again. Eventually getting their eyes to flicker and open. "Breakfast is on the table, wakey wakey,"
They finally agreed to leave their beds and we sat at the kitchen table while the girls ate their toast that I had made while they were still asleep. I was constantly clock watching throughout the morning, terrified that we would be late on the first day back, which meant we were early. The girls have to be at school for 8.45am, we normally leave the house at 8.15, it takes about 15 minutes to get there and gives them time to play on the playground before they go in to class and I get some time to chat with the other parents. Today we woke up at about 7.20am, and were out of the house before 8. I was not going to be late!
Thankfully I wasn't the only parent who had planned for some kind of mass traffic jam that would take forever to get through and the large majority of the girls friends and their parents were already there.
I prevented it from happening but I almost high fived myself when both girls didn't hesitate to play with their friends, separating from me instantly. This isn't going to be as bad as I thought, I thought to myself.
Me: "Girls! Come here, let me take a picture of you," I called as the other parents also took the obligatory first day of school picture despite already have taken the same photos outside the house and in the kitchen earlier that morning.
Eloise: "Why did you make us get all dressed in our old uniform to have a playdate?!" she asked confused a few minutes before the bell was due to ring at quarter to nine.
Me: "No, Els. It's not a playdate, you're going to back to school today,"
Eloise: "But I went to school last time!"
Me: "I know, but you have to go every year until you grow up,"
Eloise: "But t-thats no fair! I don't want too!" she threw herself in my arms despite the earlier success I figured that this wasn't going to be as easy as I had thought.
Me: "You'll have so much fun with your friends and learn so much! You might even have a special treat in your packed lunch today!" I said over the school bell signalling that it was time for kisses and cuddles goodbye and the children would head off to their classroom. Olivia, now in the upper phase area of the school was taken to class by her teacher, I would pick her up from her classroom but drop off at the playground, gave me a quick kiss goodbye and headed off with her friends. Only to run back a few seconds later.
Me: "Olivia, whats the matter?!" I asked panicking.
Olivia: "You promise that you'll come to pick me up at the end of the day?!"
Me: "Of course I will, I'll be there at 3.30, I promise," I reassured sending her back to her class.
Her teacher gave me a knowing look and a smile and she led the twenty eager but nervous eight year olds into their new classroom. Eloise was holding my hand shifting her weight between her feet as we walked through a separate door with one of Ellie's friends, Isla who had an elder sister, Eve in Olivia's class and her mum, who had too become my friend.
