Chapter 72 Nightmares - Frisk

Third Person

Frisk woke up hearing something outside Grillby's, she checked on Chara who should have been right beside her, but she wasn't, where had she gone? Frisk wondered, a cold breeze gave her the answer she didn't want, she ran out the open door of Grillby's to see footprints in the snow, only one set, good, she wasn't taken by anyone, but where was she going?

Frisk followed the footprints all around snowdin, Chara had gone through alleyways back tracked at dead ends, she'd passed all of Papyrus's original traps and even went past the snowman, that always wanted you to take a piece of him with you to wherever you go, more footprints led back to the ruins, the doors were open, Frisk stepped inside, the hallway that led to the stairs was empty, Toriel's dust remains weren't there which Frisk was relieved, she knew she would break down crying again if she saw them, she walked up the stairs and into Toriel's house, the lights were still on, the rooms seemed like they'd been used recently, the covers on the beds were ruffled, Chara had been here.

Frisk walked into the kitchen, a piece of pie was on the table and across from it an empty plate, Frisk ignored the pie, it was too cold to eat, she walked out of Toriel's house and into the ruins, all the way to the small patch of light that illuminated Flowey, static was heard and Flowey changed, into Asriel, but he wasn't smiling, he was frowning.

Frisk wanted to hug him, but he seemed unapproachable at the moment, "Chara is in danger Frisk, she asked me where Sans and Papyrus are, the closer you two get to monsters the stronger the noise becomes, you have to stop her, before it's too late, Sans will kill her, we can't fight the noise, it's too strong, I told her where they are, she wouldn't listen to any excuses, please, save her Frisk, you're the only one who can!"

Asriel vanished, Flowey wasn't there either, just the small light patch and an eerie silence, Frisk turned around and ran as fast as she could, the static noise could be heard all around her as she passed monster after monster in the ruins, they shifted forms some looking truly evil, the traps were all reset and she had to redo all the puzzles, she finished them all and ran out of the doors of the ruins, a new set of footprints led into the woods, she followed them, her breath becoming sharp as she ran faster noticing the second pair of footsteps in the distance, "Sans I trust you, don't do this!"

Frisk ran harder as she heard Chara cry out, she ran past a tree and turned when thud the sound of something hard hitting the ground, she saw in front of her as the axe was lifted, Sans was grinning his red eye focused on Frisk, Chara's head rolled over, there were tears in her eyes and blood dripped from her mouth. "NO!"

That's one nightmare down, the next one will be Chara's!
