Brendon never mentioned what happened. I didn't want to ask.

We had a new music teacher in class now. Her name was Ms Kindlier and she was absolutely lovely.

She was a big fan of Lucky too.

Brendon seemed a lot happier in music, and the rest of the class was too.

It was really good to see.

Brendon didn't play the song again though. I was secretly hoping he would. It was an amazing song.

Maybe he was just playing it secretly? I doubted it, but I didn't want the song to be forgotten.

Today was the day of the ball, and Brendon was practicing for it all through music.

It was sounding really, really good too.

"It's gonna be the best night ever." I grinned.

He frowned slightly.

"What's wrong?"

"I've been playing all wrong."

"It sounds awesome!"

"No, no, it's wrong."

I frowned. "Brendon, its fine. Stop being so hard on yourself."

"I don't want to mess it up for your Dad, c-cause he'll get mad a-and like, yeah."

"Bren, you're not going to mess it up. You're awesome."

"W-what if I do? Your Dad will hate me!"

"No, he won't."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

He nodded unsurely.

When music was over, I took him back to the dorm to get ready for the party.

Brendon was getting nervous.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine" I smiled as I helped him put the suit on.

"It's really fancy though Dal. What if I trip or something?"

"You won't. I'll be there."

"Alright..."

"You look amazing Bren."

"If you say so..."

We drove to Grace's house to drop Lucky off.

"Thanks for taking care of him."

"No problems." She grinned. "Stand together so I can get a photo of you boys!"

I chuckled and stood beside Brendon.

"Smile, Bren." Grace chuckled.

He forced a nervous smile.

She took a few photos of us.

Brendon's smile slowly faded.

We eventually got on the road again, heading to my house this time.

Brendon was beyond nervous now. "Dal, I want to go to the dorm."

"Relax. You're gonna be fine. We're nearly there."

"That's not comforting!"

I sighed and pulled the car over. "What's wrong, Bren?"

"You h-have to tell your Dad I can't do it."

"No, I'm not."

"You have to!"

"No."

He started to cry.
