***** Brendon's Point of View *****

Christmas. The day of family.

Or in my case, sitting alone in a hospital bed all day, holding onto a shred of hope that someone would come and visit because they cared about you.

By the time it hit dinnertime, I'd given up.

I was angry at myself. I was angry that I'd ignored my family and treated them badly for so long that they were practically strangers to me. I'd yelled at Dallon and treated him badly too. And now I was just going to have to sit here, alone.

I just had to deal with the doctors that were coming in all day. I imagined what they're families were like, what they're lives were like.

But even that was lonely.

I just tried to sleep the day away.

It wasn't until very late at night that I heard my door open.

"Hey." An exhausted voice greeted.

"H-Hello?" I tried to hide the fact that I'd been crying.

"How are you?"

"W-Who are you?" I avoided the question.

"I'm just a specialist. But for now, I'm Santa. I know you're not a child, but we all thought you needed some Christmas magic."

I didn't really know how to respond to that.

"We decided to get you a gift. It's not much, but, hopefully you'll like it." He placed the present on my lap. "I'll tell you what it is once you open it."

Part of me wanted to snap at him, but I decided against it and felt around for the edges where I could tear the paper off.

Once it was open, there were two boxes.

"So the bigger box is a model car. I know you can't see it, but well, there's this doctor that has known you since you were a kid, and he thought you'd like it."

"O-Oh, thanks..."

"And then the flat box is chocolate, because chocolate is always nice."

I forced a small smile.

"Hopefully you enjoy the gifts. There's a nurse that's bringing around hot chocolate too. I don't know if you're interested."

"T-thanks..."

"No problems, Brendon."

I paused for a moment. "C-Could you do m-me a favour?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"C-Can I borrow your phone to call my M-Mom?"

"Yeah, sure."

He placed the phone in my hand. I sighed softly and held it out. "C-Can you put the numbers in for me?"

"Oh, yeah, of course. What's the number?"

I recited the numbers and he dialed it before handing the phone back. I held it to my ear nervously as it rang.

"Hello, this is Grace, how can I help you?" Mom answered.

"H-Hi Mom..." I whispered.

"Brendon?"

"I-I'm sorry f-for b-being so a-awful to y-you and e-everyone else." I sniffled.

"Oh...okay." She murmured.

"I-I'm so sorry M-Mommy!" I started crying. "I-I'm sorry f-for being so b-bad that n-nobody wants to b-be around me e-ever! I d-don't wanna be a-a bad s-son anymore! I w-wanna be a g-good person and I w-wanna make a-all the kids l-love me and n-nobody hate me anymore!"
