This home just felt wrong. Nothing was right at all. I didn't know what was off-putting me, but it was an I hated it.

And I'd only just gotten here. I hadn't even gotten out of the car yet, and I could already tell.

"I-I can't stay here."

"Come on Bren, maybe you'll like it?" Mom pleaded.

"It's wrong. It all feels wrong."

She just dragged me inside.

"Doesn't seem wrong to you?"

I heard someone approach us. "You must be Brendon!"

I shook my head.

"Yes, he is." Mom sighed.

"No I'm not!"

"Someone's not too happy about being here." She sighed.

"That's okay."

I grunted.

"Let's get you settled in."

"I don't want to."

"You'll like it here."

"No I won't!" I huffed.

"Well, let's go for a tour first off."

"There's not much point. I'll work it out."

Mom nudged me with her elbow, and before I knew it, I was on a tour.

I huffed and grunted the entire time.

I had to admit, the braille library and swimming pool was a little bit cool, but I tried not to show it.

I was trying to keep up my strong, and uncaring attitude.

It was starting to fail at the end though.

It would've been fine if I hadn't smiled the tiniest bit.

"Hey! There's a smile!" Mom beamed.

"No, it's not..."

The person from the home just chuckled.

I sighed.

"Let's go see your room, hey?"

"Whatever.

The room was fairly big and easy to navigate, which was nice, I guess.

It was still something new I had to learn.

Mom began settling all my stuff up. Lucky made his home on the bed.

"I'll leave you to get comfortable." The person giving us the tour said.

Once they left, Mom sighed. "Is it really that bad Bren? It seems nice to me."

"I hate new things."

"It won't be new for very long?"

"Mom, no one wants to be stuck in a home, of any description."

"I know." She sighed. "But it's better than living with your Mom, hey?"

"Not really."

She just sighed.

"I'd rather be in somewhere I know. With less people."

She didn't respond to me.

"I don't belong here."

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in." Mom answered.

The door opened. "So... fresh meat, huh?"

I drew in a sharp breath.
