I woke up, tucked up in a bed. Not a hospital bed, it was far too comfortable for that. It was kinda like my bed at home.
Surely that wasn't possible. this had to be heaven, right?
"Morning Bren!" Mom walked in and opened the window. "Sleep well?"
"Huh?"
"You and Venn spent the night after meeting Duncan, remember?"
"What?"
"You and Venn, Mason dropped you off and you asked if you could stay the night, and I said yes, and you accidently walked into the wall and passed out, so I tucked you into bed."
"B-but the picnic, a-and the camping trip?"
"Must've been a dream."
"B-but...thats...what?!"
She chuckled. "Venn's out in the kitchen if you wanna talk to him."
"I'm- does that..."
"Hmm?"
"That's so much that don't happen."
"Come on Bren, it was probably just a weird dream."
"But you don't get it!"
She took my arm.
"I-I tried to kill myself in a dream! That's sick, god!"
"Hmm..."
I just drew a sharp breath in.
Mom took me to the kitchen and made me some pancakes.
I was still thinking about this dream.
"Hey Bren." I heard Venn sitting next to me.
"Hey..."
"Feeling better?"
"I don't know"
"You hit your head pretty hard."
"Right..."
"Your Mom is really nice."
"Yeah..."
Mom chuckled.
"Hey Mom?" I asked.
"Yeah Bren?"
"You know that therapist I went ages ago, she has a really weird name?"
"Dr Frenkinsisan?"
"Yeah. Can I see her again? I know there's Dr Wayne, but like, she was really nice."
"Well, I'll give her a call for you."
"Thanks."
"No problems."
I smiled.
"So do you boys just want me to drop you back home?"
"Yeah, sure." I shrugged.
"Finish up your pancakes and I'll drive you."
"Hey Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"Where does Duncan work?"
"Duncan? He's an accountant."
I nodded. "That's cool."
"Yeah."
I let out a small sigh.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just wish someone had a cool job."
"Oh well."
"Yeah." I mumbled.
