"I don't like this hospital." Brendon mumbled.
"I know." I mumbled. "You've been here a week, we get the message."
Brendon just sighed.
It had been a long week, to say the least. Brendon was still bedridden with pain, and it still didn't look like we would be going back to Nevada anytime soon.
"We should go home." He muttered.
"We will when you can walk."
"I'll learn."
"Brendon, when are you gonna get it through your head that you're too injured to go home yet?"
"I am fine to go home!"
"No, you're not."
"I am!"
I just sighed.
He tried to pull himself up but shrieked and fell back.
I caught him and gently rested his head back. "Told you, Brendon."
"I wanna go home!"
"I know. Soon."
He whimpered.
I tried to brighten the mood. "It's good that your Mom's gonna let you transfer to Juillard, hey?"
He nodded.
"She mailed the forms in yesterday."
"Cool." He whispered.
"Is something wrong?"
"Why do I hurt so much?"
"Because you were hit by a car."
"Well yeah, but...I don't know what I'm trying to say."
I just sighed. "The doctors are trying to wean you off the pain meds."
He frowned
"So yeah, it's gonna hurt for a little while."
"I don't like it."
"I can tell."
He just whimpered.
"Only a week to go, Bren."
"I-I really miss home, Dal."
"So do I."
Brendon just started to cry.
I gently hugged him.
He cried in my arms. "I-it's just too much all at once."
"I'm sorry Bren." I whispered.
He just cried until he felt a bit better.
"D-Dal?" He whispered eventually.
"Yeah?"
"Why d-did you stay in New York with me?"
"I-I didn't want you to be lonely?"
"Mom and Dad were here..."
"Yeah, b-but....
"But what?"
"I care about you."
"You could have called?"
"I-I just, yeah."
Brendon frowned.
"I like you."
"Huh?"
"You're nice, and cute and stuff." I stammered.
