We got back to Nevada right in the middle of exams week, which wasn't exactly ideal conditions.

Thankfully, due to Brendon's hospital stay, Dad had granted us both extensions, so we were spending most of our time in the library catching up on the work we'd missed.

Brendon really didn't talk much. He didn't seem to like all the exams and work.

He just sat in the corner with his headphones on and listened to his lesson recordings.

I didn't even try to talk to him.

He was very cranky. I was warned back in New York that this would be a side effect of the painkillers they gave him to take home, but still, it was annoying.

Hopefully he wouldn't need them much longer.

Besides all the studying, the rest of the time we spent preparing for the end of semester music concert. We'd all been given a slot to perform one of our own original songs, and our mark on that would be our final grade.

That fact seemed to make Brendon nervous.

I was going to play a song I'd written a while ago, so I wasn't too scared. I'd gotten nearly a perfect score on it when I performed it for my high school music teacher.

Brendon took his headphones off and sighed.

"What's up?" I murmured through a mouthful of gummy bears.

"I've been doing stuff wrong." He mumbled.

"What do you mean?"

"Just don't talk to me."

"Alright?"

He just sat in silence for a moment, not even listening to a recording.

I stared at him, sort-of concerned.

"I want to go to the dorm." He mumbled. "I'm gonna go."

I sighed and started packing my stuff up.

Brendon left the library.

I ended up chasing him. "Wait up!"

"Walk faster!" He retaliated.

"No! Remember what happened last time you didn't wait for me?!"
He grunted.

"So if you don't want to be hit by another car, then stop and let me grab all my stuff."

He only stopped for a second.

I took his arm and led him back to the dorm.

He went into his room.

I sighed and set back up at the kitchen table.

I sat and worked for hours.

I was really starting to make progress when I heard a huge crash come from Brendon's room.

I leapt up to see what happened.

He was frozen. "D-Did I break it? P-Please tell me i-it's not broken..."

"Break what?" I asked.

He pointed at the floor, where his computer lay, the screen absolutely smashed.

"Uh..." I mumbled.

Brendon started crying.

"It'll be alright?" I attempted.

He whimpered.

I bent down and started picking up the shards of glass.

"D-does it's still work?" Brendon asked.
