In the morning, I tackled Brendon's hair with the comb to try and get the paint out. He wasn't pleased.
"Ugh, just stop." He said, swatting me away. He tried to move his head away from me.
"I need to get the paint out." I sighed. "Just hold still."
"I really prefer it when you aren't trying to rip my scalp from my head."
"Well, I prefer not to get the paint out, but I care, so we're doing it."
"Can't we just leave it in there?"
"Your mother would have my head."
"I doubt it."
"I don't." I continued until I'd gotten most of the big chunks out. "Hopefully the rest will come with with a few good washes."
"Okay." He mumbled.
I washed my brush off and went to get ready for the day. I guess an upside to having a blind roommate was that you could walk around in your underwear and nobody really cared.
"What day is it? I don't wanna go to class." Brendon murmured.
"Wednesday, we don't have any classes first up, but I'm going to work."
"Okay, I'm going back to bed."
"Don't leave the apartment. I don't wanna be running all over campus looking for you."
"You have no sense of adventure."
"We have music this afternoon."
"Okay."
"Unless you wanna come to work with me, you're staying here."
"Can I go with you? It's boring here."
"Go get ready." I told him, before washing our plates up
He went into his room.
"You seem happier today." I told him when he came out with his bag.
"I guess." He shrugged.
"Want to go home?"
"Not right now."
"Do you have something to do while I make coffee for people?"
"Yep."
I sat him down in the back corner of the restaurant while I went behind the counter.
He just started reading.
I checked on him a few times, but he was okay.
One time I checked, someone had sat beside him.
"Oh, hello." I smiled. "Can I get you anything?"
"Oh, no thanks."
"Brendon?"
He shook his head, but paused.
"Water? And painkillers if you have any?" He asked.
His friend started digging through his bag and put two pills in Brendon's hand. "There."
"Bren, who's this?" I asked.
"Uh....Dylan? I think? Right?"
"Spencer." He corrected.
"Oh, sorry."
"He seemed lonely." Spencer smiled at me.
"Oh, well it's good to see that you two are getting along."
"Can you show me to the bathroom?" Brendon asked me, holding his arm out.
"Yeah, sure."
As soon as we were out of the room, he breathed a sigh of relief. "That guy is an asshole."
