Daisy, Toadette, and Dixie were all sitting in the cafeteria. So many hushed voices discussed Kaira's condition- not that many people knew the actual reason.
"...the wardens are so stupid. Didn't they know it would cause this kind of reaction?" Toadette sighed. "What did they have to gain by doing that?"
"Power? Putting Kaira back in her place?" Dixie suggested. "I don't know."
"Hmm... Maybe they just did it for fun. I mean, Pauline is pretty ruthless," Daisy pointed out. "I think it's kind of ridiculous, though.. Why take her-"
"Gossiping about me, ladies?" A strong and assertive voice interrupted them. Gasps erupted around the hall and the cafeteria fell silent.
There stood Kaira, still standing strong. It almost seemed as if nothing had changed. But it was obvious. Her right eye was shut- and probably would remain shut forever. A scar ran across her eye and multiple cuts were seen on her arms, but nothing changed much. Her jacket was tied around her waist- it seemed Kaira wanted to show off her scars.

"Kaira..." Daisy was speechless. "What.. What happened?"
"...She didn't free Saiko," Kaira's fists clenched. "...she promised that she would. And she lied..."
"Who?" Dixie questioned.
"Pauline," Kaira answered bitterly. "This is their response. Show me who's the boss. As if. I could easily slaughter all of them."
"So what's stopping you?" Daisy challenged. Kaira glared at Daisy, but softened her stare.
"It's another way of keeping me contained... If I ever act out, they'll kill Saiko. She can handle herself just as well as I can, but there's no way we'd be able to orchestrate some elaborate plan when we're not together," Kaira explained. "In a way, we're both each other's hostages."
"Oh..." Daisy said.
"...there's too many people watching," Kaira told them, watching as the people around them began to resume their activities. "See ya around."
"Wait!" Daisy stopped. "I'm coming with you."
"...okay."

"...Kaira... Can I ask you a question?" Daisy asked as the two returned to Kaira's cell.
"Go for it... But there's no guarantee I'll respond."
"Okay..." Daisy hesitated. "Why... Why were you and Saiko split apart..?"
Kaira breathed heavily. She tilted her head up, closing her eyes.
