"Kaira, Kaira, Kaira!" Saiko jumped as she greeted the redhead. "Gueeeeeeessss what!?"
"What?" Kaira asked, deciding to play along.
"Saiko got a present!" Saiko cheered, holding up a blue package. "Does Kaira want to open it with Saiko?"
"Sure, why not," Kaira sighed. The two sat down in the cafeteria. "Alright, go for it."
Saiko eagerly and opened the wrapping paper, opening it with surprising delicacy to not rip it. When she looked inside, her smile grew.
"Lookie!" Saiko cheered as she held the item up. "Some more stuff for us to do!"
Kaira peered at the item. It was a rectangle shape, with black on the top and bottom. There was a clear thing encasing the item.
"What is that?" Kaira wrinkled her nose at it. "A..."
"It's a phone!" Saiko shouted in happiness. "Saiko's never had one! Saiko guesses when she was young, but Saiko means, Saiko's seen people's phones before, so..."
"I've never seen one of those things before," Kaira examined it carefully, as if worried it would jump out and hurt her. "...it doesn't look like what I remember. I thought phones had a cord, and was attached to the wall."
"Things have changed, apparently!" Saiko shrugged. "But this is so cool!"
Saiko pressed buttons until it turned on. When the screen flashed, Kaira shrieked and drew her katana. She almost smashed it, but Saiko was quick and moved the phone away from her line of strike. The impact of Kaira's swing dented the table.
"Sorry," Kaira looked away. "Wasn't expecting that."
"It's fine. Whoa! This is so cool!"
Saiko began to mess around with buttons, until eventually she made it to the camera app.
"Oh, Saiko and Kaira have to take a photo!" Saiko urged. "First phone ever!"
"How do you even take a photo on this thing?" Kaira gingerly held it up, examining it and turning it around in her hand.
"Easy! Probably!" Saiko shrugged. "Saiko and Kaira will figure it out!"
"Oh, I see myself," Kaira moved the phone around, seeing things from the camera. "How is this possible?"
"Wow!" Saiko breathed. "This is so cool!"
The two stood next to each other, Saiko smiling like a mad man and Kaira staring in amazement as Kaira pressed the button. The photo was taken, and Saiko grabbed the phone from Kaira's hand to look.
"Oh, that looks sooooooo cool!" Saiko squealed. "Phones are cool!"
"Yeah..." Kaira looked at the package. "Who sent us this?"
"Saiko doesn't know," Saiko shrugged. "Probably one of our fans! Saiko and Kaira are pretty popular!"
"Oh, yeah... Probably," Kaira nodded. "Hey, there's something else in here."
She pulled out a long white cord with a block on the end. It had two things sticking out at one end.
"What's this?"
"Saiko thinks that maybe it's a charger?" Saiko said. "It has the things to plug into an outlet."
"Whoa," Kaira's eyes widened. "That's so... Interesting."
"You guys have never seen a phone before?" Luigi asked, walking up to then. Saiko glared at him, still holding a grudge since he was Mario's brother, and surprisingly, Kaira just nodded at him.
"Nope. Been here since I was four. Technically, I've been here my whole life," Kaira shrugged. "They just permanently moved me here later."
"What do you mean?" Luigi questioned. "You were here, but-?"
"Mario," Kaira looked away. "It's pretty easy to adopt someone."
"Wait, you-"
"Yeah," Kaira sighed. "Mario, my lovely adoptive father. Oh, hi, uncle Luigi."
"Please don't call me that. You're older than I am," Luigi requested.
"Wasn't planning on it."

"So that's what happened?" Luigi stared at Daisy in disbelief. "They're...?"
"Mindless, sorta," Daisy finished. "They all... They aren't even acting normal. Well, I mean, except for..."
Daisy's eyes wandered to the growling Ryan who was still attempting to free himself. Blood was spilling onto the floor.
"He's acting the same as normal," Daisy explained. "He's pretty much always hostile, so..."
"Well... Wait, Daisy, he's bleeding!" Luigi exclaimed. "We've gotta help him!"
"But we risk getting injured!" Daisy protested. "I agree with you, but until Kaira gets back, I don't want him to lash out!"
"But Daisy, he's bleeding!" Luigi argued. "We have to do something!"
"Like what!?" Daisy shouted. "How are we supposed to-?"
"Wait, Daisy... Look!" Luigi's eyes widened. He slowly walked closer to Ryan, who had finally passed out from loss of blood. "No.."
"What!?" Daisy walked over, confused.
"Oh my gosh," Luigi's face paled. "D-did you fight them, Daisy?"
"Not really," Daisy told him. "I pretty much just got beat up by them, Kaira did all the work."
"I'm glad to know it wasn't you," Luigi panicked. "But... Daisy-"
"Oh my gosh-" Daisy finally caught sight of Ryan, and quickly untied him. Her and Luigi lifted his body off the ground, trying to make it to Pauline in time.
"Luigi, his arm..! It's... Gone..!"
