To put it in basic terms:
Y'all going crazy over what he said in a mediocre freestyle, when we have other rappers that have been saying the same shit for years.
Like honestly the black community is praising him and inviting him to the cookout (which I'll speak on later).
"But he's using his white privilege!!"
As he should.
"But he's using his platform while others aren't!"
Hmmm. Nice try but actually (black) rappers do use their platform. Is there word on it? Of course not. Why? To continue the painting of the image of the black rapper who just raps and does nothing for the community when in fact a lot do.
"We should still be appreciative of his brave words!"
First of all I'm not gonna bow down to him and be oh so appreciative of shit he should do regardless. Speaking on social issues isn't something to be praised about. It should be really fucking normal.
Second of all ... Brave words??? Um??? Dude is rich and had white privilege ... He could do whatever. Trust me he could've rapped about just about anything. Wouldn't ruin his status at all ... I mean remember when he rapped about abusing women and also bashed black women??? Hmm okay then.
----
Point is. The whole "thanking him for what he's done" is basically the whole "thank the white man" ...
Maybe I'm reaching ...
But still. He did what should be normalized in society. Just saying.
