Hurt me*

After hearing RAPIST, not ex-swimmer, not ex-Sandford student, RAPIST Brock Turner got released early for "good behavior", I could only feel the beginning of the victim's pain, as well as other rape victims who saw just another case thrown under the bus, with no justice served. It's enough that it was 6 months out of a possible 14 years, but to only serve three months and not get probation because of a ridiculous law in CA is a slap in the face. To the victim, to other rape victims, and to women (and men) knowing if they were raped or sexually assaulted in any way it wouldn't be taken seriously. So I wrote this short poem. And although the situation never happened to me, it could happen to me or anyone and that's scary enough.

And if you thought that wasn't enough did you hear of the rape case that the judge freed the rapist because he wanted him to enjoy college?

The rapist, believe it or not, is nicknamed "David The Rapist". He was given two years probation, but no jail time nor is registered as a sex offender because the judge didn't want to run his college life. This guy raped two unconscious girls and convinces the judge it was just a "mistake" and everyone makes mistakes when they're teenagers and deserve to live life and go for their dreams.

Oh yeah like those kids who are in jail right now for stealing candy bars from the corner store as if they didn't have dreams to be something?

Like those kids who were found with just a ounce of weed but go to jail for two years?

May I remind you that these kids are black?

Say I'm pulling the race card, but tell me why black kids are sentenced more years for the pettiest things, yet we have white kids going to jail for 3 months for rape? If those black kids raped someone, especially a white girl, they would be sentenced 14+ years. Statistics show it.

These "kids", even though they were very aware of what they were doing, especially if David the Rapist APOLOGIZED after, have white privilege and it is very much shown here.
