^^^ You know how much hate you can get for saying that? For reminding people that Black people other than Black men also suffer from systemic racism? A whole bunch LMAO.
People wearing "My son's life matters" WITH A WHOLE DAUGHTER? Honestly how can you do that? And then have them wear "My brother's life matters"? THEIR LIFE MATTERS TOO! And please, it's not "just a shirt". If it was just a shirt, then why are their shirts that say "Black Lives Matter" on them? Because it spreads a message, and the message with the "my son's life matters" and having your whole daughter wear "my brother's life matters" is that the violence and privilege that is happening by the police only affect Black men.
It's Black Lives Matter, not just Black men. I shouldn't even have to say this shit, yet people argue with it!
"Black men are more likely to be killed by police."
"Black men are seen as more violent."
"Black men hold more value."These were actual reasons, actual arguments.
1. Black men and women are targeted at similar rates when it comes to police stops. Racial profiling, police stops, and shootings also occur to Black women, in addition to sexual assault and harassment.
2. Black women are also seen as violent, as well as aggressive (the angry Black woman stereotype!!!)
3. Black women are not less valuable than Black men.The sexism is JUMPING OUT. If you put aside and ignoring Black women's pain, trauma, and suffering, but still say "Black Lives Matter", you are a hypocrite.
HYPOCRITEEEEEEE.
This also goes for Black LGBT+. They are Black. They also experience racism. Just because they are part of the LGBT+ community, does not mean they are not part of the Black community. That thought is so so so annoying and the reason why people must ask if gay Black lives matter because it is seen as a "radical" thought. The assumption that we put our sexual orientation over our race just because WE ARE part of the LGBT+ community does not make any sense. It is important to know that not only am I Black, and targeted because of my race, I'm also LGBT+, and targeted because of my sexual orientation. More so, Black Trans individuals who are murdered for being Black AND Trans, but are swept under the rug.
So if you ignore Black LGBT+ lives but still say "Black Lives Matter!", you are a hypocrite.
HYPOCRITEEEEEE.
There is something called INTERSECTIONALITY people, where you can be oppressed and discriminated for more than one thing. The fact that mentioning Black women and Black LGBT+ is looked at as driving the attention somewhere else and a way to be divisive in the community says a wholeeee lot. You cannot focus on "Black Lives", unless you include all Black lives. Why is that so controversial?
Ah yes. Sexism and homophobia.
