Why are we forced to choose a career in a time where life is all about changes? Changes in our body, changes in our mind, and most importantly changes in interest.
One day we can be interested in one thing and the next day it's a whole other thing. Growing up I wanted to be a doctor, then I was like I want to be a cardiologist. I chose my high school off that. And guess what? I realized how much I hate science 😂 That's when I saw I actually like anything that deals with understanding people and why we are the way we are ... Sociology and Psychology.
And even now that I'm in college I'm STILL trying to find out what to do. I decided to major in Sociology and go right ahead and minor in Drama. I was thinking about just being a mental health social working, but now I'm thinking about being a drama therapist ever since my advisor told me it existed. Or maybe I'll just be a therapist and work with everyone.
I DONT KNOW.
The thing with college is that you can at least choose a major and there are several jobs in just that one major.
But to choose just one career? It's impossible. They have middle schoolers choosing a college and a career!! MIDDLE SCHOOLERS!! They have different crushes every week, and I know because I live with one and was one 😂
Like they really had us focused on the same careers: teacher, doctor, lawyer, or judge. Then to high school those same four careers, and then careers that dealt specifically with math, science, and english. Barely english anyways because being a writer is considered a hobby/extracurricular in school and not a career (rolls eyes).
Point is: you don't know what your purpose is or what you really want to do in your teens. Probably not in your twenties. Probably not in your thirties! Don't rush guys. Go for your dream but don't feel like you have a deadline.
