i find it hard
to fall asleep at night
with you still on my mindyou say 'goodnight, i love you'
so effortlessly as if
the words don't mean a thingand as i lay in my
disheveled sheets
the city bustling with lifei think of all the things
i could have responded with
but settled for three wordspart of me wants to rush
at you with a bundle
of words - tied together with emotionthe other wants to reach out
and wrap a strand of your dark hair
around my aching fingeri want to run my
hand along your 'too pale for this town' skin
as you like to call itbut i have to pull back from
your arms, pull my head
back from the slope of your neckthe crooks and crannies of your
collarbone look too good
to not rest my lips acrossand my rosy cheeks tend
to turn strawberry red
when you brush past methe scent of you
never too overpowering
but sometimes, it's just so overwhelmingyou're so serious, in a
completely humorous way
oh my dear, loving you is second natureand all that's between us
is the tension i created
the line i drewi want to step over it
run my fingers over the dirt
and wonder, what line?10-12-16
