As soon as Demi waltzed into the room everyone's head snapped up, including Selena's. Yes, the teacher lady was the one left babysitting us this time.
She didn't say anything, not a word. She simply walked from the hallway to the couch and sat down next to me and Dani, glaring at the TV as if she had been there the entire time.
Deciding to break the awkward silence, I spoke.
"Hey, Momma," I whispered quietly. She tore her eyes away from the TV and stared at me, a small smile on her face. Everyone in the room was observing, watching her every move.
Slowly but surely, Demi opened up her arms, reaching for me. I gladly obliged and crawled into her embrace, savoring every moment that she held me.
I never really realized until that moment how much I loved being in Demi's presence, or just have her hold me. I never really realized exactly how much I loved her, or how much she meant to me.
I sighed quietly as Demi gently planted a kiss onto my forehead before pulling away from me and turning to hug everyone else in the room.
I watched as she slowly transitioned from person to person, like we were at a big family reunion.
First Dani, then Allison, and so on.
Finally, for the first time in two months, Demi spoke.
"So, who wants to watch the ID channel?"
Typical.
Yes, it was true, Demi was back.
And so that's what we all did for the next five hours.
It was around eleven o' clock when Demi finally grabbed the remote and turned off the TV before turning to face all of us.
"Alright kiddos, time for bed."
I stared at her witlessly. Everyone else didn't question Demi's requests, even though it was the middle of the summer and we were out of school, but went to go on their way.
"Wipe that look off of your face, Samantha," I heard Demi say.
My head snapped over to see both Demi and Selena looking at me, smiling mischievously.
Okay, creepy.
"What?" I asked innocently.
"You know what," Selena responded quickly. I honestly had no idea what she was implying but I just went with it.
"Girls, come back down here for a sec!" Demi shouted. Soon everyone was back in the living room, staring at Demi with curious expressions. Probably because they had not even been dismissed sixty seconds ago.
"I.. have an announcement to make.." She hesitated. We all stared at her intriguingly and waited.
"Spit it out," I pressed. Demi looked over at me and motioned for me to sit on her lap. I rolled my eyes and silently complied, climbing over to sit in between her legs.
Hey, I may be fifteen but I'm a momma's girl.. Not that I have a dad to compare to, but still.
Demi sighed deeply before beginning to stroke my hair.
"I've made the decision that I want to start in the music industry again. Maybe not singing this time, but songwriting or something of that sort. I called my dad and asked him what he thought about, and he said that it'd be great a thing to help distract myself and get my mind off of things.."
"..Plus I've already been thinking about this for a while. Since I met Samantha, actually. And I've put a lot of thought into it. It's what I want to do.."
"Anyways, my dad called up a few people and they agreed to let me either take up songwriting for new coming artists or let me start singing again, under the condition that I move closer to where one of their owned studios are located, why I don't know. But I said that I'd think about it."
"So we're moving again?" Allison asked.
Demi looked at her and shrugged, "I wanted you all to be a part of this decision. It doesn't just affect me, but all of you. If we did so happen to move it would either be back to LA or to somewhere around New York. You all would have to change schools again and, if I were to start singing again, deal with the fame that comes with it."
I snorted, "What makes you think that you'll be famous again?"
Demi looked down at me in her lap with a raised eyebrow, before softly punching me in the shoulder.
"It was just a 'what if' thing, sweetheart. My ego isn't that big, but I guess yours is."
My mouth went agape and I pushed back into her chest, my cheeks hot.
I heard a laugh and looked up to see Aria shaking her head at me.
"Shut up, asshole."
"Language," Demi and Selena both scolded.
The air was once again filled with silence.
"Well I honestly don't care what you do as long as you let me come and visit Becca and Aunt Mad and Aunt Dallas," Dani stated.
Becca was her "girlfriend". Remember when she told me she had a crush on a girl in her class?
"Of course, Danielle."
I giggled as Dani's face wrinkled up.
"Don't call me that."
Demi rolled her eyes before turning to us older girls.
"What about you all?"
Aria shrugged, "I don't give a shit."
Demi's immediately eyes bulged and she glared at her.
"I swear I'm gonna have to wash all of your mouths with soap."
"Whatever," she grumbled. I smirked to myself. It was fun watching someone else get in trouble for a change.
"Alli, what about you?"
"I'm fine with it, Im just more concerned about you."
"How so?"
"I mean, what do you think the media is gonna do to you out there? The last time they caught sight of you had a one year old crawling around with you, and now you have three other kids, two of which who are adopted, and one who belongs in a mental facility."
I tensed up in Demi's arms but remained emotionless.
Honestly that insult had been so overused it didn't affect me as much as it used to.
But it still hurt.
And it felt like my issues being brought up at every given chance wasn't going to stop anytime soon.
Authors Note:
It's really cold in my room and I'm shivering right now..
But uh, thoughts on this chapter? Give me some feedback!
Like before with the miscarrying thing, Ive always planned on Demi going back into the music biz at one point. I actually foreshadowed it in one of the beginning chapters.. Which I don't think any of you ever caught on to.
But yeah, Vote / Comment
More updates are still to come
Until next time.
