Epilogue

Narrator's Point of View.

April 12, 2014. 10:33 am. New York City Time.

The plane landed safely. Kathryn barely slept the whole ride. She couldn't sleep, even if she wanted to. She looked at the window.

Ahh, the beauty of New York.

The last time she came her was Christmas. When she came here, she carried her broken heart with her. And now, her heart was never mended. It's still broken; worse than the other time she came here.

The other passenger started fixing their things and carrying their bags. Kathryn was just sitting.

She inhales deeply as she thought.

Andito na ako. Wala nang bawian 'to.

She stood up and reached for her bag.

As she got down from the plane, she inhaled deeply. She's finally breathing the air of New York.

As she took a step on the concrete, she wished that this was a big leap of faith. This is what she needed.

She just hoped that she made the right decision.

When Kathryn left, the whole gang was the in airport. By gang I meant Jon, Aria, Miles, Daezen, Anikka, Gabby, Seth, Lester, JC and Katsumi. Kathryn's Daddy was there as well, of course. Her yaya since she was a baby was there. The Padillas were there as well. Karla, Rommel, Lelay and Magui.

No one bothered to tell Daniel that Kathryn was leaving on that day. Kathryn requested everyone not to tell Daniel that she was leaving.

She wanted to leave the Philippine without the sight of him. She thought that it would be better. Knowing herself, she was sure that if she sees Daniel before leaving, she will turn around and go back to hug him and tell him how much he loves him.

She finally decided to stop the god damn katangahan. Finally.

She decided to let go.

But one thing's for sure, it will take forever until she'll move on and forget Daniel.

I mean, how could you forget the person whom you fell in love with over and over again? Not to mention that he was the reason why she left.

Little did she know, that a heart was broken when she stepped on that plane and left.

Jon''s heart.

The night before she left, she decided to make things clear with Jon. She talked to him and told him how sorry she is that she couldn't pay the love he has shown back.

She could not teach her heart, even if she wanted to.

"Talaga bang buo na ang desisyon mo?" tanong ni Jon. Tumango si Kath.

"Okay, then. I'll miss you." Jon whispered.

"May sasabihin ako sa'yo Jon." sabi ni Kath. Jon looked at him, like he was saying that he'll listen.

"Give up." Nagulat si Jon sa sinabi ng dalaga. "Give up on me, Jon. Sinasaktan mo ang sarili mo."

"Kathryn, ilang beses ko bang sasabihin sa'yo na hindi ko gagawin yan? I'll give up when time comes, pero wag mo akong pilitin." sabi ng binata.

"Kasi.. nasasaktan na ako para sa'yo." Kathryn's eyes started to water as she spoke those words.

"Wag, Kath. Isipin mo naman yang sarili mo." Jon stated.

"Jon, please. Tama na. Naawa na ako sa'yo..." sabi ni Kath at tuluyan nang umiyak.

"Bakit ka naawa sa akin?" tanong ni Jon. "Kathryn, masaya ako. Alam mo kung bakit?"

Hindi naintindihan ni Jon kung bakit masaya siya na hindi siya mahal ng taong mahal niya.

Umiling siya.

"Kasi alam kong you will feel less pain when you're in New York. Hindi mo man ako kayang mahalin nang higit pa sa isang kaibigan, but I'm happy knowing that someday, you will move on and continue to live your life." Jon stated and wiped Kathryn's tears. "Kaya, shut up and be happy, okay?"

Kathryn nodded and hugged Jon.

She will be happy.

Her mom was patiently sitting in the waiting area. Her mom was busy on her phone, probably talking to someone in the office.

She walked silently until she got in front of her mom. But it seems that her mom was too preoccupied, she didn't even notice her.

"Uhh, mom?" she awkwardly stated.

Her mom almost dropped her phone when she saw her.

She stood up and hugged her.

"Oh my goodness, Kathryn. Anak, I missed you." she mumbled.

"I missed you too, Mom." she stated and hugged her back.

This is the kind of moment that she missed a lot, warm hugs from her Mommy.

Her mom drove the car as they went home. Kathryn was just looking outside.

So... this will be her new life. She'll be breathing on a different breeze of air starting today. She will keep on moving on, and she will never look back from the painful past. She will be a grown up lady who has a tough heart.

And guess what? She'll never believe in love again.

Life can do terrible things.

But those terrible things will surely help you throughout your journey.

Grief does not change you; it reveals you.

You may feel so much pain right now. You might think that you're heart is tearing apart. Have you ever known that a broken heart is a good sign? It means that you have tried for something, that you are only human. Pain won't change you; it will unravel you to the real you. It will give you the idea of loving yourself. Grief will help you find and love yourself.

Without pain, we wouldn't know joy.

Joy is always connected to pain. And likewise, pain is involved with joy. Life can do so many thing that you wouldn't even know if you're feeling joy or pain. If you're in pain right now, the writer is sure that someday, you'll feel joy and be happy again.

It's a good life.

Think about it. Do you think God will give you life if He'll only make you miserable. Behind all those tears and pain is the glee and prosperity. Life may do terrible things, but it's a good life. Chill.

Our fearlessness shall be our secret weapon.

Familiar? A line from The Fault In Our Stars. Your weaknesses are your strength. You may not understand the point of that sentence, but you will someday. Your weaknesses can take you to places that you don't think exists.

Heartache doesn't last forever.

Learn to take a big risk in life. That pain won't be in your heart forever. Pick your balls up and move on with life! Don't be a prisoner of your own thoughts!

Stories are as unique as the people who tell them, and the best stories are those in which the ending is a surprise.
