Chapter Forty One

"The program will begin any minute now. Okay na ba ang lahat?" tanong nung staff na naghahandle sa amin.
"Okay na po. Thank you po." Fiona answered for me.
Lumabas na yung staff. Kami naman nasa sariling cabin kami.
Each team has its own cabin kung saan kami magpreprepare. Handa na yung mga models. Tapos na ang hair and make up nila. Nakaline-up na yung mga damit na susuotin nila.
Kaming mga designers na lang ang hindi.
Actually, natapos na rin ang hair and make up namin, kasi syempre, pupunta rin kami sa stage for recognition. Pero ang nakakainis ay pare-pareho kami nang nararamdaman.
Kinakabahan kaming lahat.
"Oh my goodness! Third contingent pa naman tayo!" Shaine whined.
"Tumigil ka nga, Shaine. Mas kinakabahan ako sa'yo eh." Lorie remarked as she walked back and forth with her eyebrows furrowed.
"Lorie umupo ka nga! Kanina ka pa galaw nang galaw!" awat naman ni Khay.
"Will you girls shut up? Kinakabahan na nga tayong lahat eh." sabi naman ni Janine.
Janine's words made them shut up.
Hindi talaga kami mapakali.
From here, we could hear the sponsors of the event delivering their speeches.
And soon, they announced that the fashion show will start.

Habang rumarampa ang mga models ng unang team, tinatawagan ko si DJ. He promised me that he would attend this event no matter what.
I kept on calling him, but I got no answers. I sent him loads of text messages, pero wala pa rin.
He promised. And I trust DJ.
May tiwala ako sa kanya at alam kong hindi niya ako bibiguin.
"And now, for the second team...."
Naririnig ko yung host sa labas. Pero mukhang mas malakas ang kabog ng puso ko. Hindi ko maintindihan kung saan ako kinakabahan. Sa contest mismo, or yung pagdating nI DJ.
Alam kong aabot siya.
Pinagkakatiwalaan ko siya.

Natapos na yung presentation ng mga damit na gawa namin. Iprepresent na ang mga designers.
"And the beauties behind Vague Apparel, with their team leader, Ms. Kathryn Chandria Bernardo!" the host exclaimed.
Fortunately, we got a standing ovation from the crowd. May mga naghihiyawan. Some were chanting "Vague Apparel, Vague Apparel!" over and over again.
I looked at the crowd and smiled.
But that smile is to cover up the sound of my tearing heart.
Hindi siya nakarating.
He broke his promise.

We ended up as this year's champion. But I'm not really happy.
