It was after the ninth time that Taehyung had called when Jimin muted his phone.
Jungkook had convinced him to meet up with him today to talk, alone this time, and Jimin was not going to let Taehyung destroy that. So he left the house yet ignoring another one of Taehyung's calls.
He wasn't mad, not really. Maybe a bit. But mostly, he was disappointed, and he was going to show Taehyung just that. The metro was crowded. Jimin stood right by the door and a part of him feared that he might suffocate, but he knew better than to believe that.
He tried to distract himself, but that didn't make his situation any better – his mind kept wandering off to the events of the previous day.
Why had Yoongi followed him? And did he mean it when he said he wanted to stay friends?
It didn't matter though, Jimin realized, because he was sure that he could never be just friends with Yoongi. It was hard not to be with him, not to be able to touch and kiss him like he used to, but he wasn't sure if it wasn't even worse just to be his friend. Maybe even watch him fall in love with someone else and then having to act happy for him. No, Jimin was sure that he couldn't do that. Was that selfish?Maybe, but he didn't want to feel bad about it for now. He could do that later.
The doors opened and Jimin practically stumbled outside. The air here wasn't any better than inside the wagon, so Jimin hurried upstairs to get outside and breathe in probably even more intoxicating air.
Yoongi had looked so sorry, and Taehyung had seemed so mad. Jimin felt truly bad for sympathizing with Yoongi rather than with his best friend, but he couldn't help it.
A part of him really wanted to go to Yoongi's place now and just talk to him.
Talking to Yoongi had always been a thing that Jimin loved about their relationship; it was so easy. Jimin remembered the countless times they were sat on his couch, his fingers tangled in Yoongi's hair or his head resting on Yoongi's lap, and then they talked about the deepest topics they could think of, or just something stupid or funny that had happened and they managed to hold an hours-long conversation about it. Of course they managed that, because who if not them?
Jimin really loved that. For one moment, he was glad to see the café when he turned around the corner. Spending time with Jungkook would hopefully distract his mind, or maybe he could help him. Not that Jimin would ever ask the younger for dating advise.
Jungkook was already there. A huge smile formed on his lips when he spotted Jimin.
"Hey, hyung!" he said. Jimin sat down opposite of him. "Hey Jungkook," he replied, "How are you?"
"Great," Jungkook leaned back and sighed, "I'm glad I'm back, you know..."
Jimin nodded and hummed. "Yeah, I dare say... although America must've been pretty exciting."
"It was," Jungkook agreed.Jimin grabbed the menu; Jungkook already had a coffee right in front of him. "Oh, sorry that I didn't order anything for you yet," Jungkook quickly apologized. Worry flashed across his face, but Jimin shrugged and smiled. "It's fine, don't worry. I'm the one who should apologize. For yesterday, you know. You could barely tell us anything about America."
Jungkook watched him thoughtfully. He licked across his bottom lip.
"That wasn't your fault, really. It was no one's fault. Besides, there's still plenty of time for me to tell you anything you want to know."Jimin glanced around until he spotted a waitress who made her way over to their table.
"How about now?" he suggested. Jungkook stirred his coffee. "I think there are more important topics to talk about."
Jimin's eyes shot back to Jungkook, but before he could say anything else the waitress had reached their table.
"Hello," she said and smiled, "What can I get you?"
"A cappuccino would be great, thanks," Jimin quickly ordered. As soon as the waitress had written down his order and then walked back to the counter, he turned to Jungkook and squinted his eyes at him.
