"I'm just saying we should consider it." Jimin rolled onto his back, his head hanging off the bed. "You're here all the time anyway. Or I'm at your place. Doesn't matter, what I'm trying to say is, it'll only have advantages and won't change a lot."
Yoongi halted. He put his pen down where he was writing down notes for one of his classes, sitting on the floor.
"What do you have in mind?"
He knew what Jimin had in mind. He wasn't stupid; he just wanted him to say it out loud.
Jimin chuckled. "Come on, you know what I mean." He sat up again, cross-legged, and smiled.
"We should move in together."
There it was. The words were out. Something Yoongi had thought about for a long time but had never dared to address. Something Yoongi had grown so unreasonably terrified of.
"What was that?" Yoongi said, just because. He needed time; time to think.
He felt Jimin's eyes on him for a moment, then, his boyfriend moved to the floor and sat next to him. "Hey, listen to me," he said and took the notebook and pen from Yoongi although he wasn't even writing anymore. Yoongi rubbed his hands on his jeans; they were sweaty.
Softly, Jimin grabbed his chin and turned his head so he was looking at him. "I think we should move in together," he repeated, "We wouldn't even have to look for a new apartment. And even if we wanted to, it wouldn't be hard to find something for the two of us." He moved his hand to his cheek and gently stroked it. His touch felt like fire, but at the same time, it was so ice cold Yoongi had to shiver. He cleared his throat.
"Isn't... uh, isn't that a bit... rushed?" he asked with a forced chuckle. Immediately, he knew that it had been the wrong thing to say; Jimin's smile dropped and he pulled his hand away.
"What do you mean, rushed?" he asked carefully, "Yoongi, we've... we've been dating for almost four years."
Four years. It felt weird to think about it.
"I know," he said, turning his head away again, "I know, it's just, we're in a hectic time of our lives and... we're both studying. Don't you think it'd make more sense–"
"You don't want to," Jimin interrupted him. He looked disappointed now. Yoongi opened his mouth to retort something, but Jimin scoffed and got up.
"If you don't want to then just say it," he said, walking around the bed and over to the door, "You don't have to pretend. I can see that you don't like the idea."
"Jimin, that's not it!"
"I'm not stupid!"
Yoongi hurried after Jimin into the living room. He fucked up, he knew that, but he had his reasons – he supposed, at least.
"Let me explain, please," he said and reached out to grab Jimin's arm, but Jimin spun around and glared at him.
"Oh, shut up!" he shouted. He looked mad like he always did whenever Yoongi did something he didn't like. "If you don't want to just say it, but don't make up stupid excuses!"
"Let me explain!" Yoongi repeated with more intent. Jimin clenched his jaw.
"I just think... we're both in a really turbulent time and should wait a little more," Yoongi said, realizing how much it sounded like an excuse and how stripped-down it was. "If it doesn't change a thing then why exactly now?"
Jimin huffed. He slowly shook his head.
"Four years," he said, "We've been dating for four years, and you're scared of moving in together? Other couples do it after half a year, and you still want to wait? You know what that sounds like to me?"
