It was 2.30am when Yoongi's phone rang.
He groaned and squeezed his eyes shut, secretly hoping that this was just part of his dream, and then he mentally cursed himself for not muting his phone before he had gone to bed – usually, no one ever called him druing the night, but he guessed there was a first time for everything.
Yoongi blindely searched for his phone on his nightstand, and when he found it and looked at the display, a sharp pain was sent through his brain from how bright it was.
It took Yoongi's eyes a few moments to get used to the light, but when they finally did, Yoongi was close to dropping his phone.
A part of him really, really wanted to start crying, and the rest of him wanted to get up and yell at Jimin for calling him.
But Yoongi just stared and stared, and Jimin didn't hang up.
Yoongi wanted to cry and yell and stare, so he didn't know what got into him when he accepted the call and slowly lifted the phone to his ear.
"Hello?"
There was silence, and then, Yoongi heard Jimin's giggle. Oh my God.
"Yoongi hyung!"
He sounded so ridicoulusly happy, it didn't fit the image Yoongi had in mind of Jimin from when he had lastly seen him. Now, the Jimin he had seen about a week ago had looked devastated, tired and drained, sad, but this Jimin sounded as if he was having the time of his life.
"Jimin?" Yoongi asked, just to make sure, in case someone was playing a dumb trick on him.
"Yes, it's me! Are you surprised?" Jimin giggled again, it sounded so obnoxious that Yoongi had to try hard not to cringe.
Actually, yes, he thought, I broke up with you, what the hell do you want from me?
But for once in his lifetime, Yoongi thought before opening his mouth, so he kept quiet.
"Are you okay?" Yoongi asked, which wasn't necessarily a better thing to say.
There was just something really weird about Jimin's voice.
"Me? Oh, yeah, I'm great!" Jimin laughed. There was another voice, a deeper one, and then, Jimin replied something so quietly that Yoongi didn't get what he said.
"Where are you?" Yoongi asked. It was almost like a reflex. Of course he didn't care about how Jimin was and where he was and what he was doing, Yoongi didn't care one bit.
"'m just outside... why? Are you concerned?" And Jimin fucking giggled again, God, if he didn't stop that Yoongi would actually yell at him.
"No, I'm not. Why the fuck would I?" Yoongi snapped. Jimin gasped.
"Hyung! Don't be so mean!" And then, he added quietly and with a voice that sounded as if he was pouting, "You keep being so mean to me... what did I do to you?"
That was when Yoongi realized what was wrong with Jimin, and he also knew whose fault it was.
"Are you out with Taehyung?" he asked, ignoring Jimin's question. He didn't have an answer to it anyways. Or, at least no answer that would satisfy Jimin.
"Yeah, I am," Jimin said, suddenly sounding happy again. He chuckled. "He's right here with me, do you want to talk to him?"
"Jimin, no, I don't–"
"You're on speaker now!" Jimin shouted and laughed. "Oh my God," Yoongi groaned.
"Hey hey!" he heard Taehyung yell. And these two words were enough to confirm Yoongi's guess – they were drunk.
"Could you just hang up and leave me alone now?" Yoongi asked and rubbed his eyes. They were burning. Probably the lack of sleep getting its revenge on him.
"You know what, Yoongi?" Taehyung asked. "No," Yoongi said, "And I don't want to know. Just fuck off and leave me alone."
Taehyung hummed. "Wow, you really are an asshole. You know, I thought that, even after you hurt my Jiminie, you were a good guy. Deep down. Hey, I mean, we were friends, right?" Taehyung huffed. He really didn't sound mad, but there was this biting undertone he had to his voice that made Yoongi frown.
"But I think you just are a giant dickhead, and you are an idiot for leaving Jimin."
"Tae, stop," Jimin chuckled.
"I'm just being honest!" Taehyung slurred and Yoongi thought about hanging up. But apparently, the part of him that was curious and wanted to hear what Taehyung had to say was stronger.
"And just for your information, Yoongi, Jimin is doing – doing so much better without you." And then, they both cheered and Yoongi rolled his eyes so hard they hurt even more.
"Just leave me alone," he repeated a bit quieter than before. He was tired and wanted to sleep, that's all, he really didn't have any energy left to deal with Taehyung and Jimin's bullshit. He just simply didn't care.
"Oh Yoongi, you should've seen this guy Jimin danced with at the club, he was so hot!" Taehyung yelled the last two words which made Yoongi bury his face in his pillow. "I don't care!" he shouted, but his voice was muffled by his pillow.
"And now you know it, Jimin is over you, hear that, o-v-e-r y-o-u! So don't even think about trying to get him back!"
"I wasn't," Yoongi replied annoyedly. "Good," Taehyung said, "And now goodbye, and never talk to us again!"
"I wasn't!" Yoongi repeated, but the repetitive bleeping told him that Taehyung had finally – fucking finally – hung up. Yoongi just lay there for a moment, completely frozen, before he laid his phone back on his nightstand.
"What the fuck was that?" he mumbled. Jimin and Taehyung had been obviously drunk, and honestly, Yoongi had never thought Jimin was that kind of guy who'd go out to get drunk after getting his heart broken, but seems like learning never stops.
He stared at the ceiling for a while, his exhausted mind trying to process what had just happened and everything Taehyung had said and the way Jimin had sounded like, but his eyes felt so heavy and he was just so, so tired that he eventually sighed and finally tried to get back to sleep again.
His phone buzzed a few times, just shortly, but he didn't care, not one bit. He just wanted to sleep, that's all, and nothing would keep him from doing that, not even a drunk Jimin. Certainly not Jimin.
