"That's fine. I'm actually tired myself." Lindsey was okay with it. "I didn't wanna talk about Mac stuff anyway." He turns to Stevie. "I'm gonna go to bed, hun. Is that fine?"
Stevie nods. "That's perfectly fine." She kisses him on the lips. "You go ahead, I'll be there shortly." He starts heading up the stairs, leaving the girls alone. "Ameera can you help me in the kitchen, please?" She nods and they begin to take the food to the kitchen. As they make their way Ameera was waiting to ask her mom about the baby.
"Mom, you gotta tell daddy about the baby." Ameera had tears stained down her face, Stevie was surprised Lindsey didn't catch that, they were very noticeable.
"Honey, you are my priority right now, this can wait." she puts a hand on her tummy. "Please tell me what happened. When you came in you looked so heartbroken." Ameera's knees go weak and she falls to the ground thinking about the scene she had just left.
"He left." She starts to tear. "He came by to tell me he was leaving." Stevie got on her knees and sits in front of her daughter. She pushes her hair away from her face.
"Did he say where or how long?" Ameera starts to stream in tears.
"Mama, I can't do this right now. Please." Ameera says and Stevie brings her daughter into herself to rock her slightly. Stevie was one of the only women to understand heartache. She was in love at sixteen and she knew the pain of getting over it, though this was slightly different.
"Babe, it's gonna be alright. I promise you."
Ameera and Stevie stayed on the floor for a few minutes in silence. The warmth of Stevie and the sound of her heartbeat was soothing to Ameera.
"I'm sorry." She tells her mom.
"For what, doll?" Stevie stands helping Ameera up.
"Mama, I know this was an important night. I mean, the baby inside you is far more important than what just happened with Osmond and I." Stevie shakes her head believing otherwise.
"That's what you think. The baby is very important also, but honey it's more important I know you're okay." Stevie cups Ameera's face in her hand.
"Mom, I would be lying if I said I was okay. My heart feels like it's been shattered into a million pieces. He didn't even tell me he was leaving, he came because he didn't wanna stand me up." She hugs herself tightly. "Frankly I think it would have been better of he'd done so."
"No, baby." Stevie shakes her head. "It wound not have." Ameera looks at her. "The pain you feel of him leaving would be rage right now and that is worse than feeling heartache." Ameera knew her mom was right but the moment he disappeared from the sight of her all she felt was loneliness and it was a feeling she hadn't felt for a while.
"He told me he is coming back." Ameera says to her mom. "I believe him, too. What scares me is I don't know when." They finish putting the food away and Ameera retires to her room, she puts on her pajamas and grabs her journal. She knew it would be hard to write the scene she was trying to forget but it haunted her. He haunted her.
When she goes to sleep that night, everything was so different now. A few weeks isn't very long for a relationship, but the feeling of their few weeks felt like an eternity and that's one thing she loved about being with. Feeling the way she did and still does about Osmond hurts her more because the love is just there. She can't express it to him like she normally would have.
The weekend was murder on Ameera she stayed in her room and Rhiannon could feel her sadness so she stayed with her in bed. Ameera hardly ate and she slept most of the time because that was the only time she didn't feel the distance between her and Osmond.
