"No kidding"

"You're bleeding" He says pointing to my head

"Great. My parents are going to freak when they see me"

"So don't go back" He says seriously "Stay at mine, I'll help get you cleaned up, you can tell them you're staying at Anna's or something?"

"You're too nice to me"

"You were my best friend, I'm not just going to ditch you"

"Were?"

"Everything changed when we started high school"

"I know, I'm so sorry. I'm a horrible person, I forgot about my best friend"

"Well I'm here now if you want me?"

"Of course I do!"

"Good because we're here"

We walk up to his front door. Jack signals for us to be quiet as we go inside. His parents must be asleep or something? Or maybe he's not allowed girls to stay over? We reach his room and we flop onto his bed lying next to each other.

"Does stuff like that always happen at cool people parties?" He asks innocently

"Pretty much"

"I'm actually glad I'm a nerd"

"You're not a nerd Jack"

"You said it yourself"

"I was wrong" I say sitting up, I wince in pain as I realise that he is lying on some of my hair

"Shit, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I just need some rest I think"

"Well here" he gets up and walks to his chest of drawers "You sleep there and I'll get a sheet from the cupboard" he says offering me a baggy top and some boxer shorts. I am wearing a swimsuit after all.

"No Jack, you're not sleeping on the floor!"

"It's fine honestly"

"How about we make a compromise?" I stand up to take the clothes from his hand, I smile gratefully "I sleep on this side" I gesture to the left of the bed "and you sleep on this side?" I say pointing to the right

"How did you know I like the right hand side?" He asks bewildered

"You always have!" I smile, walking out of the room.

When I return, now changed, I find Jack out like a light on the right side of the bed.
