Regardless of size, putting your life on hold until you reach that perfect weight, does no one any good.
This will be my collection of poems reflecting on societies obsession with weight and size and the effect this has on us and how we can change...
Impossible, To escape all of the negative opinions around you.
Important, It can be, when you love the people, who vocalise these expectations.
Control, How they affect you, don't let them define your sense of self.
Understand, They have an influenced perspective, they believe a standard that's been set.
Communicate, Your own ambitions and don't ever let their delusions bring regret.
Continue, On your own journey, your happiness is most important, their understanding must follow that.
This poem highlights when sadly, it is people close to you, who feel you should change your appearance, to fit in with societies norm. The saying is always to cut these types of people from your life, however that is not always possible. Espcially when it is someone you love. First, try to educate them, regarding why this is wrong. They too are victims of influence. If they do not change their ways and continue to be a negative in your life, then perhaps it time to evaluate, however perhaps they too, just need to learn how to accept individuality rather than a perceived normality.
