False Promises

I was never an overeater until I started undereating

As many of you can relate, the problem will often first begin,
When you try to achieve a certain image, work towards a goal of being thin.
By reducing the amount your body needs, thinking minimal is key.
When in fact your denying yourself and your body, what you require to be healthy.

In the end the only thing you will achieve, is for your body to store every calorie,
Every ounce of fat you give it, as it's not sure when you'll feed again.
If I could travel back in time, to warn myself of the path I was about to take,
I'd certainly try and change my mind, let them know the promises were fake.

The initial statement here, is so true and I'm sure that anyone who has issues with weight (either gaining or losing) will agree that eating issues began when you tried to radicalise something that should not have been an issue.  Many factors can cause this and whilst it can be the easiest thing to fall into, it's the most difficult thing to get back out of.   The biggest influence for me personally, is the diet industry.  Seemingly claiming to have everyone's best interests at heart, whilst we get trapped in a cycle of an unhealthy obsession with food.  After all, they would make no money and have no industry if we were all cured instantly by "one amazing diet".  They are the ones who's promises were fake, for me.
