Why do we allow, the articles of today,
To control how we feel, about ourselves in every way.
It matters not to them, whether someone is beautiful and kind,
They'll still find a way, to make them feel awful inside.

How often do we read, about how someone has lost their way,
Sensationalist headlines, rip them apart with dismay.
How they have "let themselves go" or "gained another 20 pounds",
All this teaches us is, how to be glad of another's demise.

It makes me so very angry, that we now live in a world,
Where rather than celebrating our fellow humans, we prefer to trample them into the ground.
Don't get caught up in this madness, of constant judgement and shame,
Instead stay away from this poison, find a more humane way.

If we show we are united as people, love one another with care,
Rejoicing successes together, or helping others find their way,
We'll then evolve into the type of humans, we should all be wanting to be.
Let's step away from the habit,of picking apart all that we see.

This is very much regarding the tabloid mentality of tearing apart celebrities, to the point of almost rejoicing when it appears they are failing, in some way.  It's toxic.  They fill their pages with unflattering pictures of celebrities in bikinis, highlighting flaws.  Who does this benefit?  Truly, who?  Does the reader feel better because they seem more human and real?  But what about the person in the picture?  How does it make them feel, to be featured in a magazine, read by so many people, mocking or shaming them in some way?   I personally, now avoid all of these publications like the plague and certainly won't be encouraging my kids to read them.  We should be building one another up, not celebrating tearing them down.
