13- Playing together and getting scolded

Chapter 13

FLASHBACK

It was one fine morning in New Zealand with the sun just about to rise up from the horizon. Nobody in the town was up as yet except for the 10 small children happily playing.

A tall boy Taehyung shouted in his cute, sweet voice "Jungkook, I can't find you, come out!"

The 3 petite girls squealed with laughter. The tall boy clicked his tongue out of annoyance. "What's wrong with all of you? There is nothing funny in this." One the girls, Ava responded "Ha-ha it's funny for us, seeing how stupid you all are. Jungkook is right behind that bush."

Saying so, she pointed to a medium-sized bush next to an enormous banyan tree. Listening to all of this Jin ran towards the bush and dragged Jungkook out. 

"How many times have we told you not to  hide anywhere while everyone else was talking?"

Jungkook kept his face down ashamed. Zoe stepped in front and told Jin, "Don't scold him. I'm sure he won't do it again." She tightly held Jungkook's wrist.

Jungkook smiled at Zoe and she smiled back. Namjoon said, "Yeah that's right. I'm sure he won't do it again."

Jimin said, "It's not his fault. You know that Jungkook really likes birds. And look there is a bird's nest over there. We can't blame him." He says with a pout.

Hoseok and Yoongi looked over the argument, not saying anything. Jin said "OK fine this is the last time you will go anywhere without our permission. Get it?" Jungkook nodded.

Yoongi then said, "It's time for us to head back home for breakfast. Our parents are going to be searching for us." After Suga said this everyone rushed home.

All of the 10 children were neighbors. They always used to do everything together. Eat together, play together, study together, and sometimes even sleep in one of their houses together. 

They have been friends ever since they met each other.

After reaching home, the same thing was repeated in each house.

"How many times have we told you not to play with those girls? Their parents brought up those girls in the worst manner possible. If you play with them one more time, you will see what happen for yourself" was what more or less the 7 guys were told.

Hoseok protested, "But Ma they have good manners. Why won't you let us play with them? We always do everything together and they help us a lot with our homework. It's not fair that you won't let me go anymore."

The reply from his father was a hard slap on his cheek. And that was the end of the conversation. No one dared to say anything back.

"If you play with those boys one more time, you will not be allowed to watch TV, not be allowed to go dance class and will miss move time until next week. Am I clear?" was what was told at the girl's house.

Mia started "How-" but before could she said another word Zoe gripped the hand of her twin, indicating to stop.

After a few hours, both the girls and the guys got ready for school. They were excited for this day because  Ava was attending the first day of 1st grade but the excitement disappeared.

They usually walked together as they went to the same school, but today it was different. They didn't walk together nor did they speak at school. 

Suga, Namjoon, and Hoseok couldn't help but keep thinking of what their parents had told them earlier. It was bizarre and both the guys and the girls didn't like or even understand what was happening.

But one day when they were walking back from school, Ava decided to speak.

She asked Taehyung, "Will dad and mom really scold if we talk to each other? Because I really want to talk to all of you." She was almost crying. Taehyung replied "No it's not that. It's just that....that" he seemed at loss for words. Ava asked "...That?"

Taehyung didn't know what to say.

So he just shook his head and kept walking. Ava turned to her sister Mia. "I am going to tell mom that I will speak to them."

Mia said "Ava, please don't do anything like that. You will get all of us in trouble."

Saying so they continued walking. But not together.
