Chapter 58
I hug my knees and rub my hands across my arm to warm myself from the cold wind.
I rest my temple on my knees and study Taehyung's flawless side profile as he talks.
"It was honestly all perfect when we initially started dating. We've been dating what, six months?"
I hum in response. "Yeah, out of the six months, the first two months went well. We slowly starting have a few arguments here and there but I didn't give a lot of thought to it because it happens now and then between most people, right?"
He turns to look at me for a reply. "Totally," I blink. His eyes linger on me for a few more seconds.
"It started getting worse a few weeks before your debut. She stopped texting, stopped calling, stood me up a couple of times. It reminded of the time she left without telling me," He removes his cap, runs his fingers through his hair lazily, and puts the cap back on.
"It's difficult to know what's going on inside her mind when she refuses to talk," I rub his back in circles to which he genuinely smiles. "What do you think I should do?" He asks.
"I don't want to come in between you guys," I honestly say.
"I don't know how much you guys like each other and how much you guys want this to work," I pluck the grass underneath me.
"What would you do if you were in my shoes?" He asks. "Hmm," I sigh.
"One-," I put up my index finger, "- tell her what you feel. Two-," I stretch out my middle finger, "-ask her if she still likes you. And three,-" I put up my ring finger, "-don't do anything," I shrug when he rolls his eyes.
"I think I'll go with the fourth one," He looks up at the sky. "Which is?" I question. "Wait until she talks to me,"
I let out a small chuckle. "What?"
"Nothing," I shake my head. Just as he's about to reply, his phone starts ringing.
"Hey ma," He smiles weakly. "I'm sitting with Ava by the river," He says.
"Yeah, we had dinner. Did you?" He asks. "Of course I did," He scrunches his face.
"Okay, okay, okay," He nods. "One minute," He says and gives me the phone. "Mom," He replies when I raise my brows.
"Who's?" I close the mic.
"Jungkook's" He simply says and I smile brightly. It's been days since I talked to her.
"Hi mom!" I squeal in excitement. "Hey baby," She laughs. "How are you?"
"I'm okay. I hope you're doing good too," I play with the zip of my bag.
"Yes, I am. Did you eat yet?" I nod, although she can't see. "Yep, I did."
"Taehyung said he paid for the food but I don't trust him," She says and I laugh hard at this.
"He wouldn't let me pay," We continue talking for a few more minutes.
"I'm tired, I'm going to bed. Both of you go back to your rooms quickly. Don't stay out too late, you'll catch a cold," She advises.
"Alright mom, love you," I smile. "Love you too, baby," She cuts the line and I hand the phone back to him.
"So you were going to say?" I ask, looking at him as he puts the phone in his pocket.
"I forgot," He casually replies. "Okay," I don't believe him, obviously.
"We should go," I check the time on my phone. "It's almost 11," I put my phone in my bag and get up, Tae following me.
