"I-I'll miss you (Y/N)." Your eyes well up with tears as Poe hugs you goodbye.
"Don't leave," you whisper to your best friend.
"I have to. The First Order--"
"They'll kill you Poe. Stay here. Please."
"I have to join the Resistance (Y/N). I have to stop the First Order." You nod and hug Poe again. He gently rubs smooth circles on your back with his hand. "Don't cry (Y/N)," he says into your hair. "I'll be back. I promise." You nod and let go of him.
"Bye Poe," you say.
"Bye (Y/N)." Poe climbs into the ship heading back to the Resistance base. You watch as it lifts off and leaves Yavin 4. You wipe away tears as the ship disappears from the sky. You never got the chance to tell Poe you love him.
Five Years Later
You shoot at stormtroopers as they attack the village. You are visiting your biological father. Though you grew up on Yavin 4 with Poe, you were born to (F/N) and (M/N) (L/N) on Corellia. Your mother died, and your father couldn't care for you. You were adopted by a nice family, and you visited your father every now and then. A stormtrooper grabs you from behind and drags you over to a black clad figure. You stare at the mask he wears, unafraid. He holds out his hand and searches your mind. You try your hardest to resist him, and almost black out in the attempt.
"She has a connection to the Resistance. Take her onto the ship. Kill the rest." You scream and kick at the stormtroopers as they drag you away. You look over one of their shoulders, and you see your father die, hear the screams of the villagers as they are shot and killed. You look away, and try to aggravate the stormtroopers enough so that one of them will hit you. Your plan works, and you sink into blissful oblivion.

You wake up on an interrogation table, staring at the black clad figure. "Hello," he says. You don't answer. You don't want to talk to him. You can feel him staring at you, curious. "Tell me where the Resistance base is," he orders. You are still silent. You aren't going to tell him anything. You can feel him growning impatient quickly. "WHERE IS THE BASE," he shouts.
"I don't know," you cry out. "I've never seen it." The figure growls and walks over to you. He holds his hand close to your head. You can feel him probing your mind, sifting through information. It was painful. You felt like there was something splitting your skull open.
"You know a pilot," the figure says. "He was a childhood friend. You were inseparable." You don't answer. "You haven't seen him in years, have you? You don't know where he is or if he's alive. You just know he joined the Resistance." The black clad figure chuckles at the tear that slides down your cheek. He stands up, and the pain fades. The black clad figure leaves, and you are left alone with the stormtroopers. You are moved to a cell, where you break down. After a few hours, you hear blasters firing, see flashes of blue and red light. You stand up and fly to your door. A man runs around the corner, shooting your guards. He had tan skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. He hadn't grown much from when you had last seen him. A stubble graced his chin. He had changed so much in five years, but you still recognized him. "Poe," you scream, rattling the bars of your cell. He sees you. He is confused at first, but when he realizes who you are, he runs to you.
"(Y/N)," he breathes, and places a hand on top of yours.
"Poe," you sob. "Poe."
"I missed you (Y/N). I thought of you every time I went on a mission or saw something beautiful or funny, and--"
"Poe, we've got to go soon. We need to release the prisoners now," a woman wearing the Resistance uniform says.
"Alright Blue Three. We'll get out of here." Poe breaks open the cell door, and he grabs your hand and pulls you down the hall. Stormtroopers shoot at you, and one lands a hit on your leg. You scream in pain and fall down. Poe stops, and moves back toward you.
"Go," you scream at him. "What are you doing? Save yourself!"
"I'm not leaving you (Y/N). Not again." With that, Poe picks you up bridal style and runs to his x wing. He climbs in, holding you in his lap. He lifts off and you fly out of there, safe at last.
***
A minute later, you are in the Resistance base. Your leg is wrapped up, and Poe checks up on you every five minutes to make sure you're okay. "Hey (Y/N)," he says, poking his head into your room.
"Hey Poe," you respond, and he walks over to you, smiling. He kneels down beside your bed, and you hug him. It feels good to have your friend by your side once more. Poe kisses you lightly on the mouth. You blush and can't manage to say a word. He smiles at you.
"I've been wanting to do that forever," he says, and you just smile.
"I still can't believe you came for me."
"I promised I would, didn't I?"
"Yes. You did."
"I went to Yavin 4, and when they said you were going to visit your father on Corellia, I went to the coordinates they gave me. I found the village in ruin, and I knew the First Order had something to do with it. I searched for your body, but couldn't find it. Then I got some of my buddies to come with me to rescue you."
"I still can't believe I mean that much to you."
"Nobody means that much to me. Nobody but you." You smile and kiss him on the mouth. Poe kisses you back, then kisses you on the forehead when you break the first kiss off.
"Get some rest (Y/N). I'll see you soon." With that, he leaves, and you close your eyes and fall asleep.
