(Y/N) ran through Exegol. "Kylo," she screamed. She was worried out of her mind. He had left a day or two ago, saying he'd be back, but he never returned. Now, he had told her he'd be here, but he was no where to be found.

"Kylo," she tried again. Still no answer. Then, she saw FN-2187 and another ex-stormtrooper running toward the Emperor's throne room. (Y/N) followed, hoping that they might lead her to her master. They all reached the throne room at the same time. Right as Rey fell to the floor.

They were all speechless with shock. (Y/N) didn't know if she was relieved or devastated. On the one hand, Rey wasn't really a bad person. The girls might have even been friends if they weren't on opposite sides. On the other, Kylo had spent so much time and energy searching for her, trying to turn her to their side even before Darth Sidious's order, that (Y/N) had started to feel like she was being replaced.

Neither emotion really won out. (Y/N) just stared at Rey's body. Some movement at the edge of the pit caught her eye. (Y/N) turned to see Kylo Ren climb out and crawl over to Rey. She tried to scream and run to him, but Finn grabbed her and covered her mouth. Kylo sat down beside Rey and held her in his arms. He placed his hand on her stomach and closed his eyes, concentrating. Finn, (Y/N), and the other ex-trooper watched as ligt returned to Rey's eyes. She smiled at Kylo, both laughing. Rey kissed him, and (Y/N)'s heart shattered. Kylo gently pushed her back and smiled. "Take care of (Y/N), okay? And tell her I love her." Then he fell to the ground.

"No!" (Y/N) shrieked. She shoved Finn away and ran to Kylo, but his body had already faded. "No, no, no...." She picked up Kylo's shirt and pressed it to her face, sobbing. "You idiot. Why did you risk your life for her? You promised...."

"I'm sorry, (Y/N). Everything will be alright. I promise."

"Am I supposed to believe you?"

"I think you should."

"Even if you're just going to end up breaking your promise?"

"I won't break it."

"Yes, you will. Everyone who's ever made me a promise broke the promise."

"Well, I won't break mine. And I'll take care of you. You won't be alone anymore."

The echo was so strong, (Y/N) felt like she was back in that moment. She looked at Rey, and knew she had felt it, too. Both girls started sobbing uncontrollably.

(Y/N) vaugely remembered being carried, refusing to let go of Kylo Ren's shirt, ending up on the Falcon, and falling asleep. When she woke up, she was still hugging his shirt, but she was in a bed somewhere new. Someone knocked on the door, then Poe walked in. (Y/N) turned over and said, "Go away."

"Come on, (Y/N)--"

"What do you want?"

"To make sure you're okay and talk."

"No, really."

"That's all I want! God, (Y/N), you're my sister. I just want to make sure you're okay." (Y/N) started crying again. Poe sighed. "(Y/N), I'm sorry. I just--"

"You were gone for years, Poe. I was all alone on that planet, then the First Order came and I was so scared. They were going to kill me, but Kylo Ren saw that I had the Force and he ordered them to spare me. He's the reason I'm alive today. And he trained me and pushed me so I could reach my full potential because he believed in me. Then on my first mission, you took me from him and he came back and saved me. He promised that everything would be okay and that he'd take care of me and I wouldn't be alone anymore. And now he's gone...." (Y/N) cried more than she ever thought possible. "He told me he loved me before he went to Endor's moon. Then he gave up his life to save her and left me alone. I don't understand it, Poe." Poe tried to hug her, but (Y/N) pulled away, hugging Kylo's shirt tighter.

"I never thought I'd say this," Poe whispered, "but if I could spare his life, if I could trade Kylo Ren's life for mine, he'd be standing here right now, and you'd smile, and that would be enough. I know you need time, but seeing you smile again would be the greatest gift in the world." (Y/N) stared at him for a second.

"You say things like that, and it makes me think you're preparing to leave me alone again."

"I'm not going to do that, (Y/N). Not again." (Y/N) laid down and rested her head in Poe's lap. He began to stroke her hair like Kylo Ran always did when she was upset, either over little things like losing a necklace or big things like being forced to kill innocent people. She pressed her face into Kylo Ren's shirt.

"I miss you," she whispered. "I wish you were still here. I'm almost lost without you. But I guess that means I just have to find my own way back. I'll always love you, though, and I promise I'm never going to forget you."

"And I'll always be with you," Kylo whispered. His ghost was standing on the other side of the room. He was smiling sadly, and he blew (Y/N) a kiss before disappearing.

"So, um...." Poe started. "Are you always going to hold his shirt like that?"

"Yup. Probably."

"Will you at east give Rey a turn with it?"

"Never."

"What if--"

"Never." Poe sighed.

"Yeah, I kinda knew that." The two then sat together in silence for a very long time, reconnecting after years apart.
