A Week (poem)

A week, that's how long it took me
To know you outside in,
To fall for everything you represent,
To realize you are my greatest win.

I met you on a wandering Wednesday
Near the racks of haunting history,
Too hard to touch,
Right from the start you were a mystery.

I broke your walls on thundering Thursday,
A cup of tea accompanying me.
We were together all freezing Friday,
Your hidden words and my uncontrolled glee.

But you enjoyed your solitary Saturday
As i seeked solace in my old mates-
Tipsy Alcohol, Neon Lights and Crappy Tunes,
Hoping to forget about whatever with you awaits.

I knew they'd never accept you, and that
They'd never accept the me that accepts you,
So i cut ties with all of them on
Sobering Sunday, for something falsely true.

And then you became my shield
On the morn of monstrous Monday
From the bullet fast world outside
That urges everyone to slit and slay.

And when you finished your story
On tell-tale Tuesday's twilight
I clutched your leaves tighter than ever
Not wanting to let you out of sight.

You had a home to return,
But this time it became mine too,
Where i learnt of the mystical magic
The yellowing pages do on you.

A/N : so this poem is dedicated to all the readers out there, who have an addiction, who just discovered reading, and who are somewhere in the middle of both. Welcome to the world of infinite worlds.

Personally i prefer paperbacks, but since that is not an available option, e-books will do. What about you? Reading on your phones or reading paperbacks?
