You had always loved the beach, ever since you were a child, relaxing on your towel or swimming, pretending that you are a mermaid. Just the feeling of sand between your toes was enough to make you feel like you were at home. Your parents never really understood why you loved the sea so much, because neither of them were a fan of it themselves, and yet they still supported you and would go out of their way to drive you to the beach when you wanted to go for a swim. You met your best friend on the beach, when the two of you discovered how similar your interests were, not just the beach, but also so many more things. You don't usually open up to people, but something was telling you that the two of you would make good friends. And you were right, about twelve years later, and you are still as tight as you once were. Sure every friendship has it's ups and downs, but regardless, you were somehow always finding a way to make up and stay friends. At the time, you didn't know how much of a help she would be to you.
Being the shy girl that you are, you didn't have as much luck in love as your firend did. You were happy for her, but sometimes you felt like you wanted to someone by your side and other times you would see how much she would cry and fight with her boyfriends, and you didn't want that kind of drama in your life. So it was exhausting for you when your friend was begging you to go on a blind date with one of her old friends. A blind date? In your opinion that was the worst kind of date, but after a few days you finally agreed, only to get your friend to stop bugging you. You got ready, putting on a t-shirt and jeans, not really sure if you should dress up. You were soon pulled back into your room by your friend, and she proceeded to explore your closet, searching for a "better outfit". You giggled at her as she appeared more nervous than you, and you sat on your bed as you watched her.
"This is it. This is the one!"
She said, holding up a knee high, white dress, with a floral print. You loved that dress, but didn't see how it was the thing to wear to casual, comfortable bar you have visited so many times before.
"Trust me on this one. He's gonna love it."
He? It didn't really matter to you if he liked it as much as it mattered to you that you feel comfortable in your own skin. You were not a devoted feminist, but you agreed with the motto that you should feel good about yourself first. Your friend replied that she said "he" because of some problems with her boyfriend and she just felt a little down because of that. You offered to stay with her, or even that she comes along with you, because you weren't really looking for a serious relationship, but she declined, agreeing only to spend the time you had until your date with you, and after that she would go back home and "wait for your call".It was time to leave and you put on your shoes and soon enough, you were out the door. Arriving to the bar, you searched for your date. You saw a man wave his hand up, looking in your direction, and you smiled and approached him. You two ordered your drinks and began talking, and truth be told, it was not as bad as you thought. He was charming, funny, and cute. But when a person is good on the inside, they become even cuter, their face glowing when they talk about something they love to do. The date was going really good, but you could notice that he was a little restless in his seat from time to time and you asked him if everything was okay. He smiled at you and in an unsure tone, he said that he is really enjoying himself, but that he feels like you two should be just friends. You were taken aback a little, but not looking for anything serious yourself, you agreed with him and you continued talking, and sharing a few laughs.
He offered to drive you home after you decided to end your date, as it was getting late, but you declined and said that you wanted to take a walk on the beach for a while, the very sight of the waves hitting the sand pulled you in. He chuckled and you said your goodbyes, him having to get up early for work the next day, but you agreed to keep in touch. You watched him drive off and than made your way towards the beach. The sun began to crest the horizon, while the waves hit the sand. The view was so beautiful, and you wanted to grab an easel and spread a canvas to try and paint it. You thought that you were alone, but soon enough you noticed a blonde man watching the same view. At first you didn't think much of it, as it was not illegal for another person to be on the beach. But something about him attracted you, and he looked at you and that's how you knew. And it appeared he saw it aswell as he approached you, introducing himself. Soon enough, the two of you began talking, and the rest is, as you could say, history. If your friend had never set up that blind date for you, you wouldn't have possibly met Alexander.
