"Do you want to go to prom with me?" You heard your boyfriend Tyler say, behind a box of chocolates that spelled PROM? And a bouquet of flowers. You smiled at him and nodded, reaching up to kiss him. If we rewind a little back, we will be at the time the two of you started dating. You two had met during practice before one of the basketball games taking place at your school. Tyler is one of the players and you were on the cheerleading squad. You talked and realized how much you really had in common and after some time he asked you to be his girlfriend.
And now, coming back to the present, you were at the store with your friends, looking for the perfect dress. You tried on a few, but your friends were dismissing all of them, until you walked out in a dress that made their jaws drop and you instantly knew it was the one. The fact that it was in your favorite color was a big bonus. You twirled in front of the mirror and just stared at your reflection, letting it sink in that you actually have a date to prom. Before you met Tyler, you kept thinking you were never gonna find someone to go with, so you just gave up, already telling everyone that you were not going.
And them Tyler walked into your life and changed everything for the better and you were really glad to have him in your life. He rented out a limo for the night and the two of you with Josh and his date and a few other friends were on your way to prom. As you entered the place was already packed, students dancing and singing along to the songs they loved. Tyler held your hand in his as he tried to make his way through the crowd. You finally got to the drinks table and poured yourselves some punch.
You swayed your body to the beat as you stood there, observing the crowd, slowly sipping your drink. And soon a slow song came on, a song you really loved and your eyes went wide as you looked over at Tyler. And being a gentleman, he reached his hand out to you, asking you to dance. You happily took his hand, setting down your glass at the table and you two walked over to a small empty spot on the dance floor. Your arms rested on Tyler's shoulders and his were on your waist. He let go a few times to twirl you around, making you giggle, and it was the music to his ears.
Once the song was over, you smiled at him, as a new, upbeat song replaced the slow, romantic pace of the previous. But you and Tyler were still standing, looking at each other with nothing but love oozing from your eyes. He leaned in slowly and said loud enough, so you could hear, his voice battling with the loud music and the crowd chatting, and cheering, that he loves you. It was the first time he said that since you started dating and you loved it that way. Because what's the point of saying 'I love you' after only a few weeks of being in a relationship when you don't really mean it.
You smiled wide at him and said you loved him too, earning a smile from him as you reached up and connected your lips to his. You both smiled into the kiss and after breaking apart you went back to your friends and jammed the night away. It has been a while since then, but you will always remember you prom night for being the first time you saw the love in the eyes of the person who said they loved you, confirming they were telling the truth. Tyler was the best thing that ever happened to you, by far. And you couldn't wait to spend the rest of your life with him.
