Ch. 1: Got Served

~in his patrol car~

"Gunshots at 129 Gihaeai St. It's an armed robbery. All officers available, please respond," a voice shouted from the walkie talkie.

"Officer 514 responding. 10-4," I said into the walkie talkie and hung it back in place before turning on my siren. Immediately, the cars around me moved to the side so I could get to the crime scene faster. One idiot almost hit me even he clearly saw me driving across the intersection.

~129 Gihaeai St~

"Detective Son, over here," says Officer Lee from behind his police cruiser.

"What is going on inside," I asked him when I got behind his car with him.

"There is at least two gunmen, and three civilians in the building. Three shots were fired. I am the first responder. Only you came," he asked.

"I was nearby and my partner has the day off," I told him.

"But, there will be more backup coming, right? I don't think we can do it on our own...," he says.

"Of course, it is protocol," I assured him as I scanned the building in front of us trying to find a way in without alerting the suspects inside. After 5 minutes past, another gunshot rang out and screams can be heard. Someone screamed at them to shut up.

"Holy shit," Officer Lee cursed under his breath.

"We need to go in there now," I hissed and started to inch closer to the building going the long way as to not been seen through the windows.

"Are you crazy? We have to wait for backup," he whispered.

"You're nuts. Things seem to be getting more heated, so we need to go in and save whoever is alive," I said before running to a window near the bottom of the building. Officer Lee quickly follows me from behind.

"Oh man," he says nervously. I pried open the window after I made sure that no one was in the basement, and slide in. When my feet touched the ground, I motioned for Officer Lee to come in too. So, he did. I walked over the door and pressed my ear against it. I didn't hear anything and opened it slowly while glancing through the opening. No one was in sight luckily. I entered the hallway, and it split into two at the end presumably leading to the same room.

"You go that way and I will go this way," I whispered.

"But..."

"But, nothing. We are already in here and there is people that need to be saved," I said before walking to the hall on the right. He nods hesitantly and goes to the hall on the left. In the distance, I heard whimpering and yelling.

"Wait, this way," I whispered as  I beckoned Officer Lee to come over. Soon enough, the yelling got more intense. "Okay, ready? On 3. 1, 2,...," I started to count us off when Officer Lee ran in before 3. You idiot!

"Police, put your guns down," Officer Lee shouts. I ran in too with my gun drawn. The three gunmen smirked. 

"Duck," I shouted as I tackled Officer Lee to the ground. Three bullets shot past us. "Move," I shouted as I pushed him to hand behind a couch with me. We traded bullets for a long time while dodging and moving. I managed to get one perp in the arm making him unable to shot anymore. The other perp didn't spare his fallen comrade. I hide behind a pillar and waited for the short gunman to come around. 

Footsteps slowly approached. When it was near me, I went around the opposite way of the pillar to catch him by surprise, but he anticipated that and knocked my gun out of my hands. I punched him quickly in the gym with as much force as I could and nailed him under the jaw. He stumbles backward. His gun flies out of his hand. We stared at each other for a good minute before I looked down at my gun before I looked back at him. 

We both dive for the gun to only knock it two feet away from us. We grappled together and tried to prevent each other from getting it. He got me good on the ribs making me let him go. The perp grabs my gun and was about to shoot me when a shot rang out from across the room.

The perp clutches at his shoulder and falls to the ground when an officer tackles him to the ground. 

"Move. Move. Move. There should be others," shouted Captain Park Hyunbin. I got off the ground and picked up my gun. Soon after, other officers flooded in and disappeared just the same further into the building. Captain Park walks over to me and punches me hard on the arm. "Runt! What did I say about following protocol? Something bad could...," he began to lecture/yell at me.

"Sir, we have an officer down. Officer Lee got shot in the leg. Also, there are 3 injured civilians," a rookie reports.

"God damn it. Well, go get a bus or two for them," he orders before rounding on me. "Look at this! Son, I thought I trained you better than this. You are going to get it now," he barks.

"But, Sir. I was just...," I started to defend myself.

"Just nothing. You ignored protocol again and you got a fellow officer injured. He could have died. The victims could have died. You could have died," he growls.

"Sorry, Sir. I won't do it again," I said as I saluted him.

"Sorry? If apologizes made everything alright, the police would not be needed to keep the order," he states as he jabs a finger at me.

"Yes, Sir."

"Now, scat. I will deal with you later."

~the next day~

"Runt! Get in my office now," Captain Park shouts from his office. I sighed and got off my chair.

"This is going to be good," chuckled Jooheon.

"Damn straight. Hope you don't get shoved to the provinces, Hyung," says Changkyun.

"Shut it," I grumbled as I made my way to his office.

~Captain Park Hyunbin's office~

When I arrived, there was a neat looking nerd standing next to Captain's desk.

"Sit down," Captain orders me. So, I sat down.

"Good morning, Sir," I greeted the old man.

"Mhmm. So, I talked to the higher ups and they decided that you are to join the joint task force with the prosecutors after you write a LONG report detailing what you did wrong, and all that bull," he grunts.

"What," I shouted as I hated prosecutors for what they did to my family.

"You heard me right. This here is Prosecutor Yoo Kihyun. He will be your partner on the joint task force," he says after loudly clearing his throat the old man he is.

"Hi, I'm Prosecutor Yoo Kihyun. Please take care of me. I look forward to working with you," the prosecutor...Kihyun says with a bright smile that did not meet his eyes. I didn't like him already...
