Kihyun
~after work~
~at his flat~
I toss my keys into a small silver ceramic bowl that was next to the door when I walked inside of my flat. I toe off my shoes and stepped onto the cherry wood floors. I went into the kitchen and grabbed one of the pre-made lunches that I made from the fridge. I bring it to my office with a pair of chopsticks.
In the center of the room was a large redwood desk that I had shipped over from Italy. Behind it was a faux leather office chair. Next to it was a black lamp. On it, there was my laptop, various files, and other office supplies. Along the pale grey wall behind the desk is a mahogany bookcase. In the shelves were my degrees, a few pictures, law books and cases files. On the wall across from it is a large whiteboard with newspaper clippings, a map, etc. on it. Dark crimson curtains hung from a silver curtain rod. The moonlight shining through made everything look deary.
I turn on the lights with the switch that was near the entrance thus illuminating the room. I walk over to my desk and set down my dinner before sitting down on my chair. After turning on my laptop and logging in, I pull out the USB from my pocket and inserted it into the port. Once I clicked on the pop up, it asks for a password. I input the password that he told me and expected to in. But, it asks for an answer to a riddle. That bastard...
The riddle is: "What can point in every direction but cannot reach the destination itself?" I repeat the riddle to myself several teams.
"A compass? It can point anywhere and not reach the destination itself. No, that would be a very obvious answer. It has to be something more complex or something that would not be thought of when asked this riddle," I said as I rhythmically tap my fingers on my desk.
"A map? No, it does not actually point in a direction...," I mumbled under my breath. I close my eyes and tried to think harder for the answer. I did not want to just type in an answer right away. There might be some kind of mechanism that would go off if I enter the wrong answer and delete everything on the drive.
"Hmm...what could it be," I asked myself. I stopped tapping my fingers on the desk and held my chin with the same hand. "Ah hah! It's a finger," I said. I went to type it in, but I hesitated. What if it isn't the right answer? It does seem like it would the answer....Fuck it. I type in it into the white box with a blinking cursor and hit enter. My heart rate picked up slightly in anticipation and nervousness.
*bing*
The words 'Permission Granted' appeared in bright green font. I smirked and chuckled at myself for worrying too much about it. I quickly open all of the files on the drive and downloaded onto my laptop. Once it had finished, I unplug the drive and walked over to the entrance of the office. In the space that would between the door when opened and the wall, there is a loose floorboard. I take off the board and put it in the hollow space before closing back up. Then, I went back to my desk and began to look through each file meticulously.
