Ch. 101: RisaDBSC (Part 8)

We stared at each other for long time waiting for the other to back down. As we did, the anger in me began to fade. I looked down at the person that most likely had a hand in the murder of my parents before letting him go. The other officers rushed in and put him in hand cuffs before reading him his rights. 

"This is 3 Sky 12. A suspect in a red dress is currently speeding away in a black Mercedes Benz sedan. Partial plate number is 8 Delta Alpha 1. Currently in pursuit and requesting backup," a voice shouts through the walkie talkies that each officer had. My eyes widen as I realized the person that the officer is likely talking about is the person behind the death of my parents.

Hyunwoo grabs onto his walkie talkie and presses the button down after seeing my facial expression. "Copy, 3 Sky 12. This is 10 Cerulean responding to your call. What is your location? Over," he says into the walkie talkie.

"The suspect is currently driving south on Changwook Drive and is ignoring all traffic laws. Over," the officer on the other side says. 

~eight minutes later~

"There! Her car is right there," I shouted as I pointed at the fleeing Benz that was being chased by another police car. 

Hyunwoo looks in the direction that I pointed to before saying, "Hold on tight." He zigzags through traffic with sirens blaring. The Benz grazes some cars as the driver sought to get away. What she didn't see coming was the two police cars coming from the other direction. Those two police cars tried to block her from going straight but she makes a sharp left turn and drives down a one way street after hitting one of the police cars with the back end of the Benz.

One by one, the civilians pulled their cars to the right as we continued to chase. After what seemed like several hours, she pulled into a parking lot of a building before exiting the car and running to the building. We followed suit and went after her on foot with guns at the ready.

A scream pierces through the air as we got closer. When we got there, she was holding a child in front of her while holding a gun to the little girl's head. The little girl is crying and shouting for her mom, who was shouting for someone to come save her child. 

I signaled to the other officers who got there a few seconds later to split up and approach her with caution. Kihyun and I carefully approached her while trying our best not to show her where we were. "Come out, you cowards. I know that you are here," the suspect shouts. 

"Please! Don't hurt my child! She's all I have," the hostage's mom cries.

"Shut it or else I'll put a bullet in her right now. You don't want to test me," the suspect states in a threatening tone. The mother makes some kind of incomprehensible noise in response. Hyunwoo looks at me front the tall bush that he is hiding behind and mouths, "Trust me."

I looked at him with a questioning look but he simply offers me a slight smile before steps out into the suspect's line of sight and points his gun at her. "Seoul PD! Drop the gun," Hyunwoo says in a serious tone. 

"I think that is my line here...Officer. So, drop the gun," she says in a chilling tone.
