Ch. 55: The Connect (Part 2)

Hyunwoo

~Haemin Bank~

"Welcome to Haemin Bank. How may I assist you," a man in a suit asks us as soon as we walked in. 

"Hello, I'm Homicide Detective Son Hyunwoo and this is Prosecutor Yoo Kihyun. We are here to investiga-," I began to say when a look of panic appears on the man's face.

"Come with me," he says hastily yet quietly and guides us to an office on the second floor. On the door, it states that it is the office for the general manager of the bank, Ji Hyungchul. He knocks on the door three times and waits for a response.

"Come in," a deep yet rough voice calls out from within. The man opens the door and gestures for us to walk in. So, we did and he followed suit. Sitting behind the desk was a man with salt and pepper hair and beard. If he didn't have salt and pepper hair, one would think that he isn't a day past 35 years old. "Jeonghan ah, what brings you to my office," Hyungchul asks while twirling a pen in his hand. 

"They are here to investigate the case that happened a while ago," Jeonghan answers. 

Hyungchul raises an eyebrow and then finally looks at us. "So...that little runt sent them here," he says.

"Good afternoon, General Manager Ji. Captain Park sent us here to investigate the case that happened a few months ago. I'm Homicide Detective Son Hyunwoo," I said as confidently as possible because Hyungchul's gaze was sharp like a sushi chef's knife. 

"Good afternoon, General Manager Ji. I am Prosecutor Yoo Kihyun," Kihyun says.

"Hmm, Yoo Kihyun? Yoo...is your dad Yoo Jihoon," he asks with a strange look in his eyes that I couldn't put my finger on it just then.

"...Indeed. How did you know? Did you know my father," Kihyun asks with a look of surprise on his face.

"I did. We went to school together. I have to say the resemblance between you two is quite striking," he smiles thoughtfully. 

"Thank you," Kihyun replies.

"Anyways, you two are here to investigate the case, right? I'll empty out the bank as soon as possible so that no one gets in the way," he says after clearing his throat a bit loudly. 

"That would be lovely," Kihyun says.
