Hyunwoo

Not wanting the atmosphere to become more awkward,  I decided to change the subject. "It's some weather we are having," I said stupidly and pointed in a random direction.

"There is no window in that direction...," he deadpans.

"Right," I said slowly after checking to see if he was right. Blush lightly dusts my cheeks. Kihyun gives me a small smile and shakes his head lightly.

"How did you end up on this task force?"

"Hmm, I was bored and looking for a change of pace if you will. Staying in my office, looking through numerous files, etc. can be quite a bore if I do say so myself. It amazes me how some people can work the same job for decades and not quit," he says with an amused look on his face.

"Well...if they love doing their job, then it wouldn't seem like just a job to them."

"True. What about you? How did you end up on this task force?"

"Umm, for not following procedure. But, I saved the victim. Shouldn't that count for something?"

"Rules are meant to be followed. It is just as if sorry made everything better than we wouldn't need the police nor any other government enforcement."

"You literally sound like my captain when he was giving me a lecture about it," I groaned.

For the rest of the night, we talked about funny stories that happened in our lives and about ourselves. It got less and less awkward with each exchange of words. I felt more comfortable around him. He doesn't seem to be like the stereotypical prosecutor that some policemen talk about.

"I had a good time tonight," Kihyun says.

"Me too...," I trailed off as I tried to think of how to ask him out on a second date. I'm not good with words. The struggle of being socially awkward is real.

He looks at me curiously, and says with a smile, "Yes."

"Oh, thank god. Wait! I didn't ask you anything yet."

"It isn't hard to guess what you were going to ask me."
