~after they solved the previous case~

I went down to the basement of the police department to get the files for the case that I am working on. The smell of old paper hit my nose when I entered. One would think that everything would be digitized by now, but no. Government is too cheap to hire people to do that task.

A guard was sitting at a desk to the side. She raises an eyebrow at me silently asking if I had the rights to be down here. I flashed her my prosecutor's badge and walked passed after she nodded.

I looked at the labels at the beginning of each rows of bookcases for the files I wanted. Unfortunately, they weren't numbered off or in alpha order. They were in the Dewey Decimal system. I rolled my eyes at this because I never learned how it worked. Good thing that there was a directory in the center of the room.

I thumbed through the pages and skimmed until I found what I wanted. Then, I shut the book and went down four rows of bookcases. It was on second shelf from the top which happens to be a few inches above me. I groaned as I thought that the world is working against me. Luckily, there was a stool nearby. I used it to take both boxes from the shelf. I got off the stool with the box and stumbled a bit, but didn't fall.

I started to sneeze from the dust collected on the lid and inadvertently dropped the boxes onto the floor which made a loud thud. I took the maroon handkerchief from my coat pocket and wiped at my nose before tucking it into my pant pocket. Then, I picked up the boxes and left the basement.

I was starting to lose my grip on the bottom box, so I put my right leg under it. When I was about to adjust my grip, someone takes both boxes from me.

"Thank you....Hyunwoo ssi?"

"No worries. It is only natural to help out people in need of help," he says and carries the boxes to the desk that I had here at the police department.

"Ah, I see," I said slowly and then I noticed a cup of coffee on my table.

"Oh, the boys wanted to have real coffee and not instant. They went to buy some before you went to the basement. I asked them to get you one, but I didn't know what kind you would like. So, it is just black coffee. There should be sugar and cream in the break room," he says.

"Oh, thank you. I appreciate the effort," I smiled. He smiles back at me widely which made his eyes smile too.

"Umm, well...uhh...if you need help with something else, let me know," he says quickly before walking away.

What's with him?
