She couldn't fully open her eyes when she woke up, she'd been crying all night and must've slept when she'd gone tired of whimpering. Her head felt like it's going to split, and she doesn't have the will to get up and prepare herself for her art class today. She felt her pillows were damp because of her tears, it was the first time she ever did cry this much after the moment she had left her parents. The necklace Andrei gave her is the only thing that gives her strength, the only thing that made her feel that he's still beside her all the time, and now that it's gone, she never felt more alone and that she had lost him again this time.

Amity sobbed. She hates herself for losing her precious necklace. She was disappointed in herself for not taking good care of Andrei's last remembrance to her. How could she let that happen?

It was hard for her to move a single limb, it's as if her muscles are all weak and it made her difficult to rise up from her bed. But she had to, she has a painting that had to be finished. Another fifteen minutes had passed and it took all the force she has for her to finally get up and walk towards the bathroom. She skipped breakfast and decided to just take a shower and leave as soon as she was finished preparing herself.

She didn't even bothered to check if Alexander is home. She doesn't care about anything right now. She took her black hoodie and wore it on top of the red shirt she was wearing, buttoned her worn out denim black pants, slipped his feet in her red chucks, grabbed her backpack and is ready to leave.

When she opened the door of the condo unit, Alexander was standing outside as if he was about to turn the knob as well. She looked at him blankly, and she thought she saw him flinch. For a moment she saw a hint of pity from his eyes, maybe because he noticed that her eyes were swollen from crying. Then his face shifted to a provokingly irritating one.

He snorted, "Looks like you had a rough night eh?" He motioned a finger on his face and draw a circle on his features, "You're face looks like you've just had a very bad allergy. Or it's been stung by a dozen of bees. It's too puffy you look like a cartoon character."

She felt weak and tired to argue, it took her a lot of strength to fix herself, she doesn't need this right now. Amity was about to push past him when she remembered she had to ask him if he'd seen her necklace.

"Have you seen my necklace with a pendant of angel wings?" she asked dryly.

Alexander creased his eyebrows. "No, I don't. Why?" he sounded suddenly concerned.

"It's missing. It's important to me."

Alexander shook his head, "Nope. I don't remember seeing anything like it." he answered. "Who's it from?" he asked.

"It's none of your business. You need not to know."

Alexander shrugged, "Maybe you've lost it. And it's gone. You know how some things can be easily lost. A person cannot do anything when it comes to losing something."

Amity felt her eyes sting, she was about to cry but she didn't want him to give the satisfaction. How can he be so insensitive? Can't he see how she looked pitiful already?

"I have to go." she walked passed him and intentionally bumped his shoulder.

"Bye, Jordin! See ya later!" She heard him shout at her back, his tone gleeful as if he was mocking her. Amity continued to walk and held back her tears.

Alexander grinned as he looked at her walking away, he entered the condo unit and let out a villainous laugh as soon as he was inside. He felt triumphant in making her feel miserable, it felt good.

He went to the kitchen and fixed himself some breakfast, he smiled at himself for being a smartass.

As he ate, he couldn't help not to be pleased by the memory of seeing her bleak face. The fierceness gone, replaced by a look of sudden gloominess.

"Priceless." he blurted out.

It did worked out, it looked like she was tired to argue with him. Alexander kind of expected that it'll be for good.

Although he had to admit, the moment she came into her view he actually felt genuine pity towards her. She looked like she hadn't got enough sleep and definitely in turmoil.

"That necklace must be very important to her.." he whispered. His guilt was gnawing his conscience.

But she's vexatious! What you did is the right thing! He heard his thoughts say to him. It's as if there's a devil whispering in his ears.

Come to think of it, it feels good.. And you can just play with her now.. She wouldn't bother you anymore.. You've won..

A triumphant smile spread on his face, yes he did outwit her now. And what he did made him feel like he's a genius.

"I have to keep up the good work." He continued finishing his meal.
