She was sitting under a tree in a middle of a field with her sketch book on her lap; her gentle fingers making delicate strokes, a smile playing on her lips as she looks at her drawing. She was almost done with it when a single raindrop fell on her cheek.
She stood up at once and gazed at the sky. All of a sudden the clear blue sky became gray. There are no houses nearby and she didn't have anything to cover herself from the rain except the tree. She hugged her sketch book and began to worry. The rain started to pour.
Raindrops started to fall on her hair and her cheeks but still, she kept the sketch book close to her chest. This tree would not protect her from the rain and she will get soaked so as her sketch book and she doesn't want that. It was precious to her. It was filled with memories turned into drawings. She felt helpless. But then, out of nowhere, she saw a familiar face.
"I thought you might need this."
It was Alexander. He was standing a few steps in front of her holding an umbrella wearing his familiar grin.
"Xander.." Seeing his familiar face made her smile. She wanted to run to him so she can hug him tight. She had missed him so much.
Alexander tilted his head and offered her a hand. "What are you waiting for? Come on." He grinned. She took a step and slowly reached for his hand.
"Young miss?"
Amity's eyes opened all of a sudden. She fell asleep with her head resting on top of her study table. She heard another knock on the door.
"Young miss?" She heard a voice behind it.
Before she can stand up to open it her eyes caught sight of her sketch book on top of the table. She stared at it for awhile and touched it with her fingers. Amity let out a half smile. Lately she had been making sketches of Alexander's face. After Quinn proposed to her the thought of Alexander kept on running inside her head. She started thinking about him more often, like she is yearning for him so much. She does not think about Simon, or Quinn, or her engagement; not even her upcoming wedding. It's just Alexander; and it was confusing. Another knock startled her.
"Coming." She finally stood up to open the door and saw Heidi standing outside. "Yes?"
"A visitor is waiting for you downstairs, young miss." Heidi tells her.
"A visitor?" Amity's eyebrows furrowed. "Who?" She couldn't think of anyone who would visit her because she doesn't have much friends except for the people she left behind in the city. And it was clearly impossible that any of them would visit her.
Heidi shook her head. "He didn't say his name. He just said he's your friend."
He.. Now she's curious. "Okay, I'll be downstairs in a minute. Thanks, Heidi." She smiled. Heidi bowed her head and went downstairs.
She looked at herself in the mirror and made sure she looked presentable enough. She tied her hair in a pony style and afterwards went out of her room and headed downstairs. It was quite a shock when she finally saw the visitor Heidi was talking about. She stopped dead on her tracks as their eyes met and became petrified. There, standing in the living room, was Simon.
Simon stared at her with expressionless eyes and she felt cold. It's been awhile since she last saw him and it was a bit strange that she did not feel anything other than shame and guilt as soon as she saw him. She walked slowly towards him.
"Simon.."
Simon was silent for awhile and it was only when she was close enough to him that he finally spoke. "Amity."
