It's going to be a long ride.. Amity thought to herself as she sat at the back of the car with her gaze outside. The moment Vladimir turned on the engine and drove off she began to cry heavily. She only stopped when they finally made it out of the city. She was tired and sleepy because of her crying. Her eyes and face puffy now. She still feels like crying but the tears won't come out. She's thinking maybe there's no more tears to shed anymore. But her heart, she can still feel like it was sinking and drowning out of misery.
What happened awhile ago was unexpected. Like a storm came and she wasn't prepared for it. All of a sudden the happy life she's living now was snatched away from her. And she thought it would be for forever. Then she thought of Simon and Alexander. Thought about how much they hate her now. Two men who used to like and love her but now loathe her. It's not the loss of freedom that troubles her. It's the loss of the two men who became dear to her. Two men who made her life happy when she thought it wouldn't be possible. She had lost them and it was unbearable.
Vladimir glanced at her from the rearview mirror and faked a cough. Amity looks at him, too tired to argue or get mad because all of a sudden he showed up and took her away.
"Young miss, it's best if you try to rest for awhile. The ride back home will take us several hours. You should get some sleep." Vladimir tells her. Amity just stared at him and Vladimir let out a deep sigh and looked back on the road. "Your father and mother were very much worried when you left the villa. Up until now. When I called your mother that I've found you and told her you were safe she cried out of relief. You're their only daughter, the only child they have. You should know that they're very much concerned about you. And that you broke their hearts when you left."
Amity gritted her teeth. "You're speaking as if I've done something terrible and that I'm evil when you know in yourself why I left home." She spat. "You don't even have the right to talk to me that way. You don't know me. And why do you even care?"
"Young miss, I've been with your family eversince you and your brother weren't even born. Your father is a good man. He only want what's best for you and your family." Vladimir answered not sounding angry because of the things she just told him.
Amity let out a sarcastic laugh. "My father is a good man.." She muttered bitterly. "Well he used to be, but not now." Vladimir just stared at her and didn't respond. He fixed his attention back on the road and focus in his driving. Hatred rose from within her. The thought of her father made her clench her fists. How delighted he'll be once he sees her. There would be no escaping now. Amity closed her eyes and recalled what happened the night she had a fight with her father. The night before she left home.
It's the usual quiet dinner they always had since Andrei died. The mirthful mood they once have everytime their whole family would share a meal was gone. Now only silence fills the four corners of their home. During meal times only the clamour of their utensils could be heard. They never talk, never speak a single word, and just ate in silence. When Andrei died the warmth of their family have gone.
But tonight isn't one of those usual nights. Her firm and stern father breaks the ice all of a sudden.
"Martin and his son will be visiting us a month from now." Henry Barcelona's voice echoed within the dining area. Amity raised her head to look at her father who, even as he speaks, still continues to eat. Not sparing her or her mother a single glance as he does.
Amity saw her mother's face went uneasy for awhile and then slightly fidgeted on her seat. Her eyebrows wrinkle in confusion. Is there something she doesn't know? Whatever it is, she doesn't care. She just continued eating. Whatever it is her father is telling them doesn't concern her. He was probably throwing his words to her mother. She couldn't remember the last time her father tried to talk to her regarding several matters so she didn't mind listening.
