The following day went smoothly. Amity woke up early only to find Alexander almost finished preparing breakfast. He had made pancakes and sausages for the two of them. As soon as he saw her he motioned for her to sit down and eat.
"I didn't know you can cook." Amity told him as she took a sip of her coffee. "And that you make good coffee as well."
"I grew up to be independent, of course I know how to cook." He said looking breezy. "I've tried cooking for you the past few days but you didn't even bothered to taste any of it."
"Well you can do it again, I guess I have no choice but to try it now would I?" She told him jokingly then stuffed her mouth with a forkful of pancake.
"Smart-mouth." Alexander muttered and Amity giggled in between chews.
"So what are your plans for today?" Alexander asked her and Amity thought for awhile.
"Mmm.. Nothing." She answered then shrugged.
"Nothing? That's so boring. Don't you have any past time or something?" Alexander asked her with creased eyebrows.
"Well," Amity looked at the ceiling and answered, "I read books, I listen to music, and I just sleep. That's it. I only watch TV with Simon if the show is our favorite series."
"That's it? It's a miracle you ain't gaining weight or something.."
"Hey! Watch what your saying!"
"I was just kidding!" Alexander laughed.
"Well.. We could play a game or something.." Amity suddenly remembered something, "We have monopoly."
"Really? I'm good at that game!"
"Really.." Amity looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "It doesn't look like you do.."
"Pfft! Try me!" Alexander challenged her.
"Okay. But we would play after we've finished cleaning the place. It's a must."
"No problem." Alexander agreed, "After that we'll play. First one to lose would have to cook lunch. Deal?"
"Deal." Amity raised a thumbs up sign.
They cleaned the condominium unit after finishing breakfast and as soon as it was done, Amity took out the Monopoly game and they started playing. Alexander lost in their game and when it was almost noon he started preparing their lunch.
Alexander planned to cook T-Bone steak and steamed veggies. Amity sat on one of the chairs in the dinner table and watched him.
"Make sure it tastes good. I'll give it a score." Amity pressured him.
"I tell you, once you smell it you'll give it a ten." Alexander smirked. And he was right, as soon as the aroma filled the place Amity felt suddenly hungry. She heard her stomach growl.
Amity looked at Alexander while he moved and did the cooking. She was somehow amazed that a guy like him could do things like this, unlike his brother, Simon doesn't know how to cook. Simon was used in eating take out food when he was alone, not until when she came, that's the only time he'd ate some decent food.
She prepared the table when the food was almost done and they ate a hearty lunch together.
"This is good.." Amity told Alexander nodding and masticating the meat very well. "It's like from a restaurant.. So amazing.."
Alexander snickered, "So it's a ten then?"
"Don't get too cocky, Mr. Alexander Tan. But I must admit, I give it a ten."
Alexander laughed, "Thanks."
They played cards afterwards just to kill time. It was now Amity's turn to lose. They're playing poker, and Alexander seemed to be very good in the game.
"Guess you have to cook dinner." He smirked.
A few hours later Amity realized it was 15 minutes before 5 o'clock in the afternoon. She quickly stood up from her seat.
"What?" Alexander asked her.
"I'm going out." She answered then went into her room to get her hoodie and grabbed her sketch book. Alexander followed her.
"Where are you going?"
"Relax, I'm just going to the park." Amity gave him an assuring smile.
"I'll come with you." Alexander grabbed his jacket as well. Amity looked hesitant for a moment but she just let him be.
They were now in the park sitting on one of the benches, Alexander looked at her while she does some sketching.
"Do you usually do this?" He asked.
"Yep, if I have free time. I love walking at the park during the afternoons and just scribble in this." She raised her sketch book.
Suddenly, they saw a crying little girl nearby and both of them went to her. Amity noticed the girl wore decent clothes which means she's not a beggar and probably just a lost child. Alexander knelt to look at the child and told her to stop crying, it was a good scenario for Amity. She didn't expect Alexander has a soft spot for kids.
"What's your name little girl?" Alexander asked.
"Minzy.." The young girl answered in between sobs.
"How old are you, Minzy?"
"Four."
"Are you with someone? Is your mommy with you?" He continued to ask and the child nodded.
"Where is she?"
"I don't know.." The child wailed, "I want my mommy!"
"Hush now sweetie.." Alexander hugged the crying little girl.
"We should take her to the police station." Amity suggested.
"No let's wait here a bit. Her parents might look for her here first." He answered then pointed at a rolling cart selling candies. "You want me to buy you candies, Minzy? While we wait for your mommy?" Alexander asked the little girl and she nodded. They took her near the cart and bought her a lollipop. The three of them sat on the nearest bench and waited. In just a few minutes a woman in her mid 30's approached them looking worried and had been finding her daughter Minzy. The woman told them she was just talking to a friend when she realized her daughter had gone. The woman thanked them both and left carrying her daughter and kept on kissing her head.
"Well that's a relief." Alexander whistled.
"Yeah it sure is.." Amity answered. "What you did was nice.. It was nice of you, really." She complimented his deed and he grinned. "You like kids don't you?"
"Yes I do." He answered. "We better head home too, that baby sitting made me hungry. Which also reminds me, you're making dinner."
"Oh really? How about.. The last one to reach the unit cooks dinner?" Amity looked at him playfully and his eyebrows wrinkled in confusion.
"Race you!" And Amity started to run. Alexander realized what was happening.
"Shit!" He mumbled and started to run after her. "Hey wait for me!"
