INGREDIENTS
2 Cup Red lentils
6-8 Cups Water (adjust to taste - how thin or thin u like ur daal)
1 tablespoon Turmeric
1 teaspoon Chilli Powder
Salt to taste
1 Large Onion - thinly sliced
4-6 Green Chillies - slit
1 tablespoon Mustard Seeds
1 tablespoon Cumin Seeds
1/2 Cup Oil
1 Inch Ginger Piece - Cut into thin strips
4-6 Garlic Cloves - Finely sliced
1 Handful of Coriander - chopped
4-5 tablespoon of ButterMETHOD
1. Wash daal & soak for at least 20-30 minutes in plenty of water
2. In a pan add daal, turmeric, chilli powder, water and salt and boil till daal has cooked & turned yellow - adjust water as per your taste
3. Once cooked add chopped coriander, mix well & remove off heat and add the butter and do not mix let the butter melt into it by itself
4. In a separate pan heat the oil
5. Add the sliced onion, ginger garlic and cook till onions are light brown
6. Next add all the green chillies, the dry spices & fry till they crackle
7. Pour the mixture into the daal
8. Mix & serve immediately
