RM's POV

Swansong. Noun. The final performance or activity of a person's career. Origin: early 19th century: suggested by German Schwanengesang, a song like that fabled to be sung by a dying swan.

The name of Nara's mixtape.

Dating is not as easy as it sounds. I haven't seen her in a lot of days and after the release, she was busy doing promotions. Three days before and two days after. Today will be the sixth day of our official relationship. Six days of goodmorning texts. The 'good night's remaining unseen. Did she even sleep all this time? Anyways, I texted saying that we should meet up. Swansong received huge response. The most BTGS has ever gotten, I think. Nine million views in two hours. It's a feat, and I haven't even seen her face much less congratulate her. The texts I sent this afternoon remained on unread.

But swansong, though...

It's awe-inspiring.

The title track is sentimental and full of the will to fight back against the hardships that life throws at you. The mv starts with Nara dressing her wounds. She massages her soles, sticks an injection in the balls of her feet and begins to dance. The music starts, she falls and doesn't get up. The rest of the scenes that follow are completely detached to the first. The members of BTGS make a guest appearance one by one as the song goes on. The meetings don't intersect and it's always a different set. It looks like she's telling a story. She meets Aoi at an orphanage and recieves a gift. What is odd is that they don't talk. At all. It starts from Aoi and ends at Lizzy, who she meets at an apartment during the bridge of the song. She meets with a member, recieves a different object from each one of them and leaves. They don't even smile at each other. But when she leaves, something happens with the member. She takes a journal from Lizzy and leaves the apartment. She doesn't turn back and there is a sad, sad smile on the leader's face as she watches her leave from the window. Aoi had that exact same expression when she left. But then a black van appeared and took Aoi away. Sunhee smiled at her back, then pulled on a mask and ran like her life depended on it. Aera smiled, turned the other way then walked  in red stilettos and climbed into a waiting car. Ayano boarded a plane. Fengh's hair reached all the way to her waist. She smiled sadly as Nara walked away. Then she removed the wig, pulled a dark hoodie over her head and blended in with the shadows of the night. The weirdest part was Lizzy. The apartment she was in went up in flames while she stood in the window, smiling.

The fans are gonna have the time of their lives figuring this one out.

After that, Nara was walking down a narrow corridor with various framed pictures nailed on the walls. There were tons of pictures but none of them including the members or her. It was pretty well-lit, so viewers could see the people in them clearly. Nara walked dead ahead, not caring about them at all. She came to a stop, looking right into the lens. She frowned and tilted her head. The next angle was used from behind. She was looking at a frame at the dead end of the corridor. It was the largest one yet and it was covered by a white cloth. She raised her hands and pulled at the sheet. The ending lyrics went back to the first scene of the mv. She sat cross legged on the floor of the empty dance studio. All the objects she had received were now placed in neat rows infront of her. Then it was the corridor scene again, but only of her face. A lone tear slid down one cheek. Then it was a closeup of her in the dance studio. Here, she was crying without restraint. But on her face was the happiest, most radiant smile to ever exist. The song ended. With no music came the scene of the corridor. The last frame. This time there was no Nara. The sheet that had covered the frame was on the carpeted floor. The frame held a canvas.

It was blank.

The lyrics I understood. They were simple and easy to follow, with not too many metaphors. The mv, not so much. I only understood the blank canvas. New beginnings.

After dinner, I called Nara. I was home and tried three times but she wouldn't pick up. I sighed and bored as I was, scrolled through SNS.

I was disappointed but not surprised.

Kang Leeteuk was a sore loser.

I found a reason to live and when it faded, I found another.

Carry on, don't despair. You will find the one.

Your scars will turn into your strength.

Carry on and you will find yourself.

Hearing the lyrics made one thing clear: This was Nara's masterpiece. Her sentiments bared and weaved into music. Made into art. It was a part of her soul.

According to KBS it had implications of self-harm, which is why it was now banned for broadcast.

That son of a bitch.

Nara would not pick up still. A little panicked, I contacted Lizzy. My panic increased when the leader said that Nara wasn't home. She also had no idea where the rapper could possibly be. It sounded like a lie to my ears but I didn't press on. I thanked her anyways then called the company to get Debby's contact number. The good woman picked up on the first ring.
"Calm down, child"

I hadn't realized how fast I was speaking. I paused and tried to even my breathing.

"The girl wanted to have some alone time. She didn't take the news well. I think it made her sick"

"Is she with you? Can I-"

"Calm, boy"

I paused and breathed.

"You're not the only one that worries for her, you know?"

Maybe I blushed.

"She asked to be left alone. And she's in a safe place"

"Where?"

Debby chuckled. "Don't worry so much. I made sure to baby proof it"

I definitely blushed.

She laughed when I remained silent. She told me to take care and hung up.

I roamed around the dorm, worry not letting me sit in one place. It was about an hour when my phone buzzed with a new text, making me jump.

Two new messages from sexy mochi gen. 2

The apartment building was pretty decent. Kind of like the second dorm we moved into. No one would ever have guessed that world famous rockstars come here to brood. It made the safe house incognito. The only thing different about the apartment was the extra security on the door. Four numbered pin and a retina scan. Tonight, it was ajar.
I knocked on the open door and stood waiting for permission.

The door was open which is a major sign of permission, I know.

Call me stupid, but I knocked again.

There was a faint glow coming into the hallway from somewhere in the house - most probably the living room. It didn't help my nerves.

"Nara...?"

There was no response and the feeling of not right was gaining rapid momentum.

Something's not right.

I took a slow step inside and closed the door softly behind me.

"Lee Nara..."

I kicked off my shoes and followed the hallway. I took the turn into the living room and froze in my tracks.

The lights were dimmed.
