Chapter Thirty Six: Tribe Stories

Third person pov
𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟒𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟔

Emma sat in the passenger of Edward's Volvo watching the forest zoom by. She turned to him with a smile and held his hand that was free. He noticed and smiled back.

" Yes ?"

" Nothing. I can just tell your tense."

The Cullen's needed to hunt to Jacob suggested he'll protect Bella and Emma at La Push. Edward agreed on it, but Emma knew he only did for her after her speech she gave about stress for no reason.

Edward muttered," How can I not be ? My girlfriend is going into wolf territory."

She shook her head groaning a bit." Edward."

" I have rights to be worried."

" I know, but you shouldn't be. Jacob is my best friend and he will take great care of me. Babe, if I trust him, so can you." She said honestly which helped him ease a bit.

He nodded." Okay. How about dinner ?"

" What about it ?"

" One of these days, when things settle down a bit, I want to make you dinner." He said which made her smile.

" Why ?"

" You need some relaxing, dear. I feel like you haven't caught a break in a while."

Emma swayed her head back and forth thinking about it a bit before agreeing." It feels like that, but it's worth it, I guess. I still take that dinner."

He laughed squeezing her hand a bit." God, do I love you."

The statement made her laugh with a bright smile on her face. They got to the place seeing Jacob and Bella waiting for Emma. Edward and Emma got out going over, but already she heard a disgusted laugh.

" Doesn't he own a shirt ?"

" Stop." Emma warned with a playful look." I'm good in his hands. Trust me and trust him please. Like I sais."

He nodded his head looking back to her." I'm not gonna be going long."

" You don't rush. You need to hunt and provide for yourself for once." She said when he leaned down and gave her a very big kiss that she never actually gotten before. He broke the kiss and she looked up to him with a smirk." Maybe you rush a little bit. You know, a girl that's human might need you a bit faster."

" I love you, Emma." Edward said with a laugh kissing her forehead before going to the car.

" Love you too." She said and walked over seeing Jacob and Bella were busy holding each other and smiling. They looked over to Emma seeing Edward's car zoom off." You guys are happy."

" We talked. I was overreacting."

" Plus, it was my fault I never told her." Jacob said squeezing her shoulders before letting the girls get to their side of the car." So, whaddaya wanna do today? Bike, hike, hang ? Your call. Or we're going to a party tonight."

" What ?" Emma and Bella said at the same time. Not a moment later, it was dark outside and they were on La Push seeing at Jacob's house there was a nice bonfire and people sitting around it.

" You sure this is okay ?" Bella said looking up to her boyfriend while they walked hand and hand." I really hate being a party crasher."

" She has a point. It's normal for you, but us ?" Emma said before giving a small laugh." How many times do I have to tell you people i'm the vampire girl ?"

" Technically, you're a Council Meeting crasher. See. The Council leaders, Dad, Quil's grandpa, and Sue Clearwater. She took over for Harry when he died."

" Okay Jake, I should not be here." Emma said backing away, but Jacob quickly grabbed her arm lightly." Jake-"

" You're okay. I thought... I mean, they thought it would be good for you to hear the histories."

Emma frowned," Why me ? Aren't they secret ?"

" We all got a role to play. And you're a part of this. I mean, it's the first time Seth, Leah and Quil are hearing them, too. But you guys are the first outsider. Ever." Jacob said which didn't help Emma's nerves to settle a bit.

Bella laughed and looked down to her clothes." If I haven't known that, I wouldn't believe you and would've dressed better."

" Jake !" They heard and looked up to see a tan boy run over with a goofy smile on his face." It's about time, you got here. Paul's been hoovering the grub, but I saved you some burgers."

" Good looking out, Bro. Girls, this is Seth Clearwater, Leah's brother. Seth this is Bella and Emma Swan. The Twins. Seth is the newest member of the pack."

" Newest, bestest, brightest-"

" And slowest." Jacob said and began to play fight with Seth. Bella laughed, but Emma stood there wondering if this was even normal for them. A loud whistle went off making them stop and turn to the girls.

" Come on. Your dad's about to start."

" Alright."

" The Quileutes have been a small tribe from the beginning." Billy started while Emma sat with Bella and Jacob. Emma felt like eyes were on her, but rather then looking around for them, she just stared at Billy." But we've always had magic in our blood. We were great spirit warriors. Shape shifters, that transform into the powerful wolf. This enabled us to scare off our enemies, and protect our tribe. One day our warriors came across a creature. It looked like a man, but it was hard like stone, and cold as ice..."

Emma knew what they were talking about and her blood boiled when it came to Billy Black. He only wanted to invite Emma to change her mind on Edward. It made her upset because her choice for the future had nothing to do with Billy. He had nothing to do with it, but he felt like he had to stick his nose into it. She wanted to lash out at him or storm away, but she knew a scene would only embarrass Bella and Jacob, so she went for curling her fist and staring now at the fire.

" Our warriors' sharp teeth, finally tore it apart... But only fire would completely destroy it. They lived in fear, the Cold Man was not alone. And they were right. She took her vengeance out on the village. Our elder chief, Taha Aki, was the only spirit warrior left to save the tribe, after his son was killed. Taha Aki's Third Wife could sees that he would lose...The Third Wife was no magical being, no special powers, but one. Courage. The Third Wife's sacrifice distracted the Cold Woman, long enough for Taha Aki to destroy her. She saved the tribe. Over time, our enemies have disappeared. But one remains...The Cold Ones."

Bella looked over to Emma seeing her jaw tight with anger and her knuckles white as snow. Along with Emma, Bella believed it was wrong for Billy to be lecturing Emma on her choice. Sure, Bella was scared of losing her sister, but after falling in love with Jacob, she understood how far love can take a person. Though it is not needed, if being a wolf was what it took for Bella to be with Jacob, she would do it. Bella reached over slowly touching Emma's knee to help calm her down and it did, but only the slightest. Bella could practically feel the anger radiate off of her sister.

" Our magic awakens when they near. And we sense it now, we feel the threat in our blood." Billy looked over to the girls almost as if speaking to them. Emma glared to the man, but he seemed unfraze." Something terrible is coming. And we must all be ready. All of us."

When Billy allowed everyone to leave and eat once again, Emma did not hesitate to storm towards Jacob's rabbit wanting to get the hell out of there.

" Emma wait-"

" Jacob just get me out of here." Emma angrily whispered turning with glare in her face.

" I'm sorry. I didn't know he was going to go that in depth with it."

" But you knew he was going to !" She yelled feeling the anger boil. Bella lightly placed a hand on Emma's shoulder before turning to Jacob.

" You still have to watch us, so why don't we just go to my house. Charlie is stuck at work till late tonight. We can all just hang out there. Okay ?"

Jacob and Emma looked at each other knowing damn well staying would be the terrible choice. Feeling the energy, Jacob nodded opening the car door." Okay. Let's go."
