Chapter Forty Three: Victoria

Third person pov
𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟓𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟔

Emma was in the woods running. She didn't know why she was running, but whatever was behind her made her run faster and faster. She got to a clearing seeing a river side. She walked to the river looking to her reflection and seeing herself, but soon Victoria appeared. Emma gasped turning to see it was Victoria whispering in Jasper's ears.

" Kill her Jasper. You know you want to ?"

Emma gasped slowly backing away." Jas ? It's me Emma."

" You did it once before. Do it now. No one will stop you this time for sure."

" Jasper don't ! " Emma yelled backing into the lake and shivering from how cold the water." Get away from him !"

" He wants one taste of blood, Emma." Victoria laughed curling a piece of Jasper's hair with her finger." I control him. I tell him what to do. Go on."

Jaspar opened his eyes showing Emma his red eyes ready to witness a murder. Emma gasped shaking her head and feeling the water meet her waist." No. No. Please." Emma begged, but Jaspar lunged on her biting into her neck." No !"

" Emma !" She heard someone yell and woke up with a jolt gasping for air. She took some deep breathes feeling a cold hand on her back and knowing it was Edward." What is it ? You were crying in your sleep."

Emma sat up swinging her legs over the bed thinking about her dream and reality. Victoria was the key." The intruder..." She started before turning to look at Edward." The newborn army. They're all her puppets. She has them in her control."

Edward frowned sitting up a bit." Emma who ?"

" Victoria." Emma answered.

" Alice would've seen if she wanted to make an army."

" Edward, that's the thing." Emma explained standing up and looking out the window a bit afraid if the women herself was out there." What if she's hiding behind them and she's letting someone else decide ?"

Edward did not say a word which caused Emma to turn and see his worried face." Come on."

" Where are we going ?" Emma asked throwing on a cardigan and following Edward down the stairs.

" To book a flight somewhere far." He answered opening the front door to head outside." You're going to need the distance."

" What ?" Emma laughed standing in front of him." You're crazy. I'm not just gonna hide, while you're taking all the risks for me ?"

" If it's Victoria involved I need to keep you as far away from the fight as possible." Edward explained, but Emma was not buying it.

" Jasper said that I could be of help. Let me at least do something."

Edward shook his head quickly." We won't need your help. With the wolves in this, it's an easy win. The rest of us, aren't gonna have enough to do."

Emma frowned crossing her arms over her chest." Edward, either it's so dangerous that I have to hide or it's so easy, that you're gonna be side blind, which is it ?"

" It's dangerous for you. It's easy for us."

" If it's dangerous for me then it's dangerous for Bella and my Dad." Emma pointed out." I can't just be shipped off while they're in danger. I'll be worrying. Bella will be worried and we'll both feel more horrible."

Edward stared at his stubborn girlfriend knowing very well she would fo anything to get her way. She displayed it multiple times." Okay." He decided nodding his head." you're right."

" So, I'm coming with you ?" Emma rejoiced, but Edward shook his head again.

" No, we've got to stay away together."

" Woah !" Emma stuttered grabbing his arm." I can't make you choose between me and your family. They're family-"

" The only way I can protect you, is to be with you, Emma." Edward stated looking at her very protectively." There's no way I could be on the field fighting while you're alone. We did that before and this happened." Edward added lifting Emma's arm up with her bite mark.

Emma groaned before turning to him." So ? What's the plan ?"

" You're not fighting ? What ? You pull a muscle or something ?" Jacob asked walking out of the woods with Bella. Emma turned hearing her best friend's voice and smiled glad he had received Emma's voicemail. They had a plan and it was smart enough that even Bella would be safe if Jacob helps.

" Jake, stop." Bella warned glaring over to her boyfriend attitude already.

Emma cleared her voice before looking to him." He's doing it for me. Okay ?"

" Whatever." Jacob barked a bit." Just tell me the plan."

" This field will give us an advantage in battle." Jaspar spoke catching everyone's attention." We need to lure the newborns with Bella's scent. It needs to end here."

" Edward, Bella, and I are going on a campsite. Even if he carries Bella and I, they'll still pick up our scents."

" Your stench, however." Edward replied smirking at the use of words, but Emma slightly rolled her eyes tired of the small folk hate." is revolting."

" Dude, you really don't want to start comparing stinks."

" Stop." Emma whined stretching out the words and glaring to both men." What he means, is that your scent will mask Bella and mine if you carry us. It'll protect us at the campsite."

" Done."

Edward scuffed and shook his head." This is not a good idea."

" We didn't even try it, yet." Emma argued glaring up to her boyfriend also tired of his attitude towards Jacob." We need to try this for Bella's sake. I'm not letting her get hurt."

Bella smiled and nodded to Jacob." Okay, let's just try it." Bella spoke looking over to Jacob and nodding.

Jacob picked her up quickly and nodded to Emma seeing how nervous she was." Eau de wolf, comin' up."

" Run." Edward ordered causing the wolf to run away with Bella. Emma watched Jacob and Bella soon disappear into the woods feeling sick to her stomach. This had nothing to do with them and they were being placed in danger." You okay ?"

Emma looked up to him briefly before turning to the woods." Not sure yet. This has nothing to do with them and they're being placed in it. I feel terrible. This is all my fault."

" It's not-"

" Yes, it is." Emma argued turning to him." I was the one that went to the ballet studio and almost died. I was the one that caused Jacob to shift in front of Bella and tell her everything. I'm the main reason Victoria created a army of vampires that are coming to Forks. Everyone is in danger because of me and I'm tired of it."

" That's why this is going to be our last fight. Once Victoria is gone, no more fighting."

" I feel like that's a lie." Emma trembled looking up to Edward a bit scared." I feel like this isn't the last fight. A war will happen soon and with who is the scary part too."

" All I picked up was wolf stench." Jaspar spoke coming from the woods and breaking the conversation."No Bella."

Emma nodded." You sure ?"

Jaspar nodded seeing her worried and soon used his powers to bring her some comfort. She felt the anxiety soon leave her body and smiled to the man thankful for it. Jaspar smiled nodding his head again.

" This will work."
