Chapter Two: Freak Accident

Emma's pov
𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟓𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟓

Bella and I  hopped out the car and the minute we did, my eyes looked over to where the Cullen's always parked. I saw all of them, except for Edward. Maybe he was running late? It didn't matter. Biology was where I was going to corner him....or so I thought. Walking into Biology, the desk where empty and I sat at my seat staring at the door for him, but the bell had gone off beginning class and nothing.

The next day was the same thing. He was gone almost as if I imagined him and I almost believed it if Jessica didn't gawk on how she wasted an outfit for him to see. When three days passed, my anger slowly died down. How could I take it out on him if I never even saw him. When four days had passed, I knew it was hopeless to wait. 

I just needed to focus on volleyball and Bella. It was Monday all over again before I knew it. I picked up my volleyball bag from the front door strapping it over my body ready for today's game when I heard a gasp and quickly looked up seeing Bella slip on ice and fall right on her poor back.

" Bella!" I yelled quickly running over the same time Charlie hopped out of the truck to see if she was okay.

He carefully helped her up checking for a wound." Are you alright?"

" Yeah, I'm good" Bella said fixing her clothes clearly embarrassed." Ice doesn't really help the uncoordinated."

" I agree with that so I will drive today." I stated taking the keys from Bella's hand and walking over to the truck.

" Em-"

" What? I wanna live." I teased winking at Bella before opening the front door.

" Yeah...That's why I had some new tires put on the truck. The old ones were getting really bold. Well, I'll probably be late for dinner. Gotta head down to Mason County. A security guard at the Grisham mill got killed by some kind of animal."

" An animal?" Bella and I said at the same time making us look at each other before smirking. 

" You're not in Phoenix anymore, girls" Charlie said opening his cruiser before looking to the girls." Anyway, I figured I'd lend a hand."

" Be careful." Bella called out.

" Always am."

" More then Bella." I shouted feeling her hand slap my arm.

" Shut up."

I drove the both of us to school seeing what she saw everyday. The Cullen's with no Edward. His Volvo like for the pass week is missing, but there was still one surprise. Alice Cullen looked over and smiled giving me a small wave while holding her boyfriends hand. For a second, I didn't know if it was for me, but quickly smiled giving one small wave seeing it made her smile even brighter.

" Did she just wave to you?" Bella asked seeing the same thing I did.

" Yeah. I think so." I said rushing into the school building when the bell went off.

" Prom Committee is a chick thing but, I got it covered for the paper anyway, and they need a guy to help choose the music." Eric explained to Bella walking by her side." So, I need your playlist. Hey! Listen, I was wondering. Um, Did you have a date to the-"

" What's up, Arizona's!" Mike said swinging his hat above our heads and wetting us a bit." Huh? You're liking the rain, girls? You gotta get used to it, girls."

" Hey Mike, you're real cute man." Eric said making Bella laugh.

I rolled my eyes at their antics heading to my desk only to see after a week, Edward Cullen was back. I couldn't stop the gasp from leaving my mouth as my nerves jolt at the sight, but quickly cleared my voice and went to my seat looking forward knowing it was going to be another dreadful hour of him staring at me.
