Chapter Forty Six: Volturi

My head was beginning to feel a bit better coming down the mountain side and towards normal Fork's weather. It was nicer down here and I could now see the color in Bella's face when we got to the fields. Edward gripped my hand in fear and I could tell it was from the arrival of the Volturi. I was technically meant to be dead by now and here I was a human and annoyed them to every degree. I noticed the fire in the distance and couldn't help , but to smile at the fact that the Cullen's got the other newborns.

" How long ?" Edward asked causing his entire family to turn towards me.

" A few minutes. Maybe ten."

" Emma, what happened ?" Rosalie questioned walking over and lightly touching the large band-aid on my head.

" Would you believe me if I said I won ?" I asked causing her to let out a small laugh.

" The pack needs to leave. The Volturi won't honor a truce with the werewolves." Edward warned when I turned noticing Bella walk towards the wolf gang, but a loose vampire soon ran up near her.

" Bella !" I screamed racing after her.

" Emma, don't !" Edward warned holding me back from the mess in front of me.

Jacob had roared quickly leaping in front of Bella and biting the vampire in it's shoulder. The vampire and Jacob rolled against the ground, but in the end, the vampire pulled Jacob in a grip and bit into his skin. Jacob let out a cry loudly piercing my ears that I gasped trying to break free from Edward's grasp to save him. Sam and the other wolves quickly ganged up on the vampire tearing him to shreds, while Jacob transformed into his human form in pain.

" Jacob !"

" Jake !" I screamed finally being able to run with Edward by my side worried. I slid on my knees taking off my flannel to cover Jacob's lower body seeing him tremble in pain while Bella cried.

" Hold on, Carlisle is gonna take care of you." Edward informed carefully touching Jacob's body.

Carlisle came to my side looking over Jacob's body stunned by what he was seeing," The bones on the right half of his body are shattered."

" Is...Bella okay ?"

" Jake, I'm right here." Bella cried carefully kissing his forehead and moving some sweat." Jake, I'm always going to be here."

" I need to set the bones before his accelerated healing kicks in. It's already starting."

" We need to get him out of here." Edward whispered and I glanced behind me glad the Volturi had yet to show up." We're not gonna win a fight with the Volturi."

" We'll take him back to Billy's." Sam spoke and Carlisle nodded looking to their leader.

" I'll be there as soon as I can."

I spared a glance to my sister seeing she was a mess taking deep breaths and shaking in fear. I grabbed her hand causing her to snap her head to me.

" Bella go."

" No...No, I can't leave you."

" I'll be fine." I promised moving some hair from her face and smiled despite the fear haunting my head." Just go and be there for Jacob. Now."

She nodded her head getting up off the ground with me to allow the pack to pick up Jacob. He groaned loudly in pain trying his best to not show it, but we all moved. The pack quickly rushed out of the fields and I watched Bella run at their pace until the forest greens took them out.
